There's an old saying in sports "Don't put yourself in a position to let the refs become a factor."

That one, too. Lol. Dislike that one, too. Totally dismisses a statistical category and aspect of the game, in my opinion. That's asking a team to play perfectly in case the officiating doesn't go their way. My position is, why would the officiating not go your way? Why is not fair and consistent? Why are they not held (more) accountable for impartial officiating? Why is not talked about when a disparity exists? To each his own, though.

Then you probably don't like, "The harder you play, the luckier you get." Ever notice how the team playing the hardest seems to get all the breaks? lol

That's not necessarily always true, especially when it comes to the game in question. Carolina out hustled and outrebounded Nova 36 to 23 and was 16 to 2 on the offensive glass. Equal number of steals and they forced just one fewer turnover, as well. Multiple times loose ball fouls were called when the ball was on the ground and both were going for possession and had what appeared to be held ball situations go against them for fouls. Kennedy Meeks laughable foul stands out. That was a joke, probably the worst call of them, and that's saying something as there were an absurd amount of them, one after another. That line of thinking doesn't apply to the Carolina v. Nova game as Carolina's hustle was obvious. All I'm saying is when officiating is slanted, it should be pointed out and not dismissed. Is it the sole reason a team loses? Maybe, if it's so egregious hurdle that it cannot be overcome, but probably not. But to totally dismiss how officiating affects the outcome of games is ridiculous to me.

I'm not saying they never get a call. Sure they do. Everyone does at some point or another. Which either sucks or is good, whatever end you're on. I'm saying in this game, the officiating negatively impacted the outcome of the game for North Carolina. Wasn't talking about any game in the past. Just this one.
