Absolutely. Look who is on the court in that possession:

UNC: Hansbrough, Bobby Frasor, Danny Green, and Marcus Ginyard (all freshman) plus Noel (one of two seniors on this team with little used Byron Sanders).

dook: Redick, Williams, Dockery, Lee Melchionni (all seniors) plus DeMarcus Nelson a sophomore who holds the California state high school record with 3,462 career points .

I can remember exactly where I was watching this game...ah the college years.
I remember that game to well. I remember that ESPN put the game on a ton of their networks. I believe it's still the most watched NCAAB game ever on ESPN

That whole group was just awesome.

By far my favorite class in any sport ever was that Hansbrough, Frasor, Green and Ginyard class. I just wish Giyard coulda played on that 09 team. Plus you throw in Noel, Terry and Miller also and Quentin Thomas improved so much as well during that season. One of my favorite teams ever

all you do is multiply your bet by the decimal number next to each respective option to figure out the payout

Don't forget Mike Copeland in that 05 class. I will remember him from that Miami game when there was the fight going into the locker room at the half with the tv still rolling. He and Hansbrough were in a battle royal. You could hear Hansbrough tell one of the Miami players to "get your hand off my boy" right before he took them out.

Yeah at that time ESPN was trying their "full circle" coverage and put the game on all their networks making it the most viewed game all time. Here is what Wiki said:

North Carolina at Duke was the first ever ESPN Full Circle, which aired on March 4, 2006. The game was seen by an average of 3.78 million households on ESPN and ESPN2 alone making it the most-viewed men's college basketball game ever combining the networks. There were also two million page views on ESPN.com and one million video streams across ESPN.com and ESPN 360. "Above the Rim" coverage generated a 0.7 rating, 40% higher than the network's per-game season average. Brad Nessler called the game along with **** Vitale and Erin Andrews. This game is significant since it was the last time to date that Nessler called a Saturday Primetime game.

Coverage:
ESPN (ESPNHD) featured the traditional coverage of a regular college basketball game. It also had "look-ins" to how other entities are covering the game.
ESPN2 (ESPN2HD) featured the Above the Rim cam for the first time in television history.
ESPNU featured a split screen with the traditional view of the game on the left side and the Cameron Crazy Cam on the right with a camera on the Duke student section the whole game.
ESPN360 featured the traditional game feed on ESPN's customized broadband service enhanced with extra stats not featured on telecast, hosted by ESPN Radio's Jeff Rickard.
Mobile ESPN featured game alerts, live updates and in-game polling for a replay of a classic Duke-North Carolina game.
ESPN International was covered in over 120 countries around the world.
ESPN.com featured live chats, in-game polling and highlights on

Nope. He went 6-2 against dook while establishing HIS. It would have likely been 7 in a row if Reid from Florida St didnt try to break Lawson's leg causing him to miss some time including one against dook that year (same year Frasor tore his ACL, so I do not put much weight in dook winning that one when the Heels were down to their 3rd string point guard).

I am not sure if anyone else is reading this thread but you and I KPenn...haha

But back to the ESPN coverage of that 06 game, that is the power of ESPN. I wish they were as helpful to us as Notre Dame fans. It would develop more fans, enhance recruiting, and help promote all that is Notre Dame. Instead there are multiple incidences were we are on the short end...

Honestly that whole night was all about Dook and not about UNC. You know what they were thinking putting that game on. They thought Dook was gonna role DookieV would kiss some ***, but nope didn't happen. I just hope ND football gets to a level where they are great again. Aside from the struggle last year UNC basketball has been amazing to watch...

Best day ever was when they hired Roy. Even though Doherty was a UNC guy I was never a fan of him.

Yeah I wish he did not say no the first time after Guthridge got done. He was just too loyal to Hinrich and Collison. After going 8-20 in 2003, last season was nothing in comparison.

I do not know what the deal is with these ADs at UNC and ND. Both institutions are elite schools for their respective sports. Why on earth would they hire the head coaches they did? UNC hired Doherty because he was a stud recruiter for Williams at Kansas, but was only a head coach for 1 year at Notre Dame (22-15 and missed tourney...not great). It is similar to the Willingham, Weis, and Davie hires at ND (no head coaching experience). If we would have landed a hall of famer in 2002, like UNC did after their one miss hire, we could have built on the success of that season and never looked back. The bump in the road that was 1997-2001 would be forgotten instead of this decade plus slump we are still getting out of.

My Favorite Doherty moment:

Competly agree. I really wish UNC coulda gotten Roy the 1st time, but at least they got him.

That game was awesome. That's the only good thing Doherty did. That and getting Felton, May and McCants.

Umm... does anyone know why the game isn't on ESPN? Is it some funky blackout thing in NoVA for me?

Marshall is very good. The size of Zeller and Henson inside is going to be the difference if UNC wins though.

That does give them the advantage over dook, who rarely has any good bigs. Henson and Zeller were always there, but Marshall is the straw that stirs the drink. If they do anything this year, it will be because of the development of Marshall.

1st charge dook takes. Over/under: 7 for the game. Any takers? haha

Paulus and Reddick aren't playing, so I will take the under. No phantom floppers on this team that I've seen so far.

So.. Duke totally sucks. Not only do they not play anyone, but they've lost to some pretty crappy teams and UNC is just outclassing them right now.

UNC, if they put it all together by tournament time, could be a serious contender. They've certainly got the athletes.

Unless your last name is plumlee, they have not had any post commits, let alone good players. They had transfers in Olek Czyz and Eric Boateng. Josh McRoberts and Shavlik Randolph turned pro early because their draft stock plummeted after being former #1 players (both were drafted in the 2nd round after 2 years at dook). I guess Lance Thomas (former 5 star top 10 player but averaged 5ppg and 3 rebs ) and Brian Zoubek are the only ones besides the three plumlee brothers.

You can count productive post players on one hand since the back to back titles in 91-92: Brand, Williams, and Boozer.

I was Yelling for Roy to call a timout right when Duke hit the first 3 out of the gate. So instead he allows an 8-0 run. What a d!c
