Your post makes no sense. Here is one of many examples....the high school baseball coach was fired for saying Trump is our President.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/12188789/michigan-teacher-fired-trump-president/

My post was quite clear. The hand wringing about cancel culture and needing a safe conservative space is overblown.

Looks like he was fired for undercutting his superintendent and saying that liberals suck. The superintendent says he wasn't fired for his pro trump tweet https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cl...-speaks-out-after-being-fired/?outputType=amp

How many times have you been warned not to fly your countries flag or voice/show support for your President for fear of your own safety? It is currently happening in the United States. I doubt care what side of the political spectrum you are on this should be frightening.

No president up here, but I think I get what you're trying to say.

Do people really feel threatened and are not flying the American flag? I've got a whack of American friends and not one has expressed this concern, conservative or liberal.

I would like introduce you to the National Hockey League, bunch of white dudes with some strong conservative values.

But the core being of "being cancelled" is losing your platform and becoming unemployable. I still hear Bill O'Reilly on XM radio adds. There's a gofundme for the 17 year old who killed two protestors. Ian Miles Cheong who has professed his appreciation for Hitler, Andy Ngo who regularly hang outs with alt right groups are still popular, hell they regularly get posted on here as trusted sources. Aside from Milo Yannapolous there's very few "conservatives" that have been cancelled.

I think the idea of being canceled has spread out much further than just talk show hosts losing their job. And it's not just for having insane views like the ones that you have pointed out. Why do you think societies like the Friends of Abe exist? Do you think its a healthy thing for our body politic that people have to secretly congregate about their political views that are held by almost half of our country in fear of losing employment?

And really? When has the NHL been a strong bastion for conservative speech? Are there a bunch of players standing up for overturning Roe v. Wade? Can you seriously name any conservative issue that league as a whole has stood up for? I think the league is pretty apolitical.

What examples of cancelled prominent conservatives are there?

I've never heard of Friends of Abe, but a quick look it and it doesn't seem like John Voight is getting hurt too much from it? He's had prominent role in Ray Donovan, and spoke at the RNC. I don’t think Joe Blow is able to join it as it seems like its for famous people, so the stratification over the entire country seems like a stretch.

I'll take it you don't follow the NHL too closely. Two players on the rangers are starting a podcast to discuss non-politically correct items and are active Trump supporters. Logan Couture was in the spotlight for discussing why he would vote for Trump if he was American. The Pens hosted a Blue Lives matter night a couple years ago. A lot of NHL coaches have publicly stated they would scratch players for protesting the anthem. Seems pretty conservative to me, no?

I think the public battering that JK Rowling has had is a pretty good indication of it. As of late, she's had awards stripped from her. She's not even a conservative! She just happens to publicly espouse a conservative view on transexuals.

Do you really think that conservatives are treated fairly in the public sphere compared to Liberals?

And fair enough I guess I don't follow the NHL as closely. I wouldn't say their conservative activism comes close to the liberal activism of the NBA or other leagues though.

As for Hollywood, why do you think Tim Allen's TV Show which was ABC's second rated show? Would it have been cancelled if Allen was outspokenly Liberal? Probably not.

Jason Whitlock is a joke.

He's a hack mostly known for selling out his own race.

Please explain to me in detail what "selling out his own race" means. Just because he doesn't fall in line and believe what the average African American believes on politics he's selling them out?

I don't care about Whitlock's political views. It's really about his constant unfair criticism of athletes like Kaepernick and Lebron just because they use their platform to speak on issues affecting black people. Going to work with an ignorant racist like Clay Travis after FS1 had no use for him anymore. It's clear his end game is to always side on what benefits white supremacy.

So, JK Rowling is outspokeningly transphobic. So that is why she's losing a lot of her luster. Again, she is not de-platformed.

Conservatives, the same ones who regularly tell Liberals that they need a safe space and are snowflakes? But, I think it has to do with the media you consume, like you'll never hear AOC treated with respect on Fox and Jim Jordan won't be celebrated on CNN.

Well, when you're a rich white guy making a damn good living there probably isn't much you need to be active about?

Have no idea which show your referencing because on Wiki it's showing that his show Last Man Standing is still being shown on Fox?

(Going to leave it at this because we're getting off track from the NBA thread)

“If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.

Every trans person’s rights to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I would march if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.

Yea, outspoken transphobe. I would lay off the safe space talk if you classify this as outspokenly transphobic.

Agreed. There's just no way we're going to see eye to eye on this issue.

Let's go Bucks

100%.

A love watching the Bucks play man, tbh more than the Raps usually lol.

A lot of diehard Raps fans think that Giannis is going to leave, that's crazy right?

I'm not really a die hard fan of any team, I didn't grow up around a basketball team so I just root for individual players. Given the NBA's turnover it's definitely made It easier to be a fan in that vein, but I do love Giannis and mostly Pat Connaughton so I've been wanting to see them win it all for this season. I think it depends on what motivates him. If he really wants to go down as one of the GOATs it makes more sense for him to go to a bigger market to attract more talent around himself. However he really does love Milwaukee. I think if he leaves its to go to the Knicks. Crazy that we're still two NBA championships away from his free agency and this has been the biggest NBA free agency story for at least the past year

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, the player movement is incredible and the openess to game play changes is cool. The innovation being driven by stats is great too.

Is the consensus the Knicks? Would be cool to see him with RJ - I'm a fan for obvious reasons. I lived a couple doors down from a close friend and teammate of his for Canadian National Team. Solid solid kid.

I think if he leaves Milwaukee he's going to either need a lot of money or go to a team that can compete. The Knicks have enough money to pay him a lot as well as get somebody else to complement him and RJ Barrett. I think the Raptors would have to let Lowry go to afford Giannis though. Unless Lowry settles way less than he deserves

The Mavericks have been eliminated. Possibly the worst thing to happen since MASH went off the air for a lot of people. Also a "What If" series for the ages. Future looks good for Dallas, but for now, Kawhi is name.

I somehow think this all winds up Lakers vs Celtics in the end, but that's putting the cart before the horse. I still want to see who the Lakers get in the next round. I think they will have their way with the Rockets. Thunder might give them a better series, but not by much.

Seeing the Utah Jazz melt down was a bit of fun too.

The Lakers top two get the slight edge over the Clippers top two. After the top two, the Clippers have a decided edge.

Utah is out. Need the shitbird Clippers out next.

Boston appears to be hanging around for the East Finals. Still hoping for Lakers vs Bucks in the Final.

No Celtics, no Clippers please.

Stephen A: "Nash will do a 'hell of a job in Brooklyn,' but being hired with no coaching experience is white privilege"

I don't like giving this guy any additional oxygen, but this hire is kind of a WTF moment for me. They looked at Jacque Vaughn, Ime Udoka and Tyron Lue I believe. Only to hire Steve Nash out of left field. It's weird. I guess this is why you go through the process, but in these situations, what did he give them that Vaughn and Udoka did not?

This is surprising to say the least. Almost feels like a "gotcha" kind of hire. I am more interested in what the Bulls and Sixers do with their hires, quite honestly, but this definitely makes you raise an eyebrow. I think the consensus now is Wes Unseld Jr. is the front runner for the Bulls. Sixers, who knows. With this hire, all bets might be off now. Surprises could come around from each corner.

Loved the guy as a player, and how that Suns team didn't win a title just shows you how difficult winning a championship is in professional sports. Man were they good. He was the engine to it, too.

His interview on the Knuckleheads podcast (Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson) was really, really good.

Vaughn's record is horrible isn't it? I don't know enough about Udoka. I've never liked Lue. Always been a fan of Nash. I know he has no HC experience, but didn't he consult or assist with the GSWs?

What I don't like about SAS's comments is he says he'll be great, then shits on him. If he things he'll be great, he should understand why others think so too.
