You'd know better than me, I wasn't there. Thanks for the info. I had people tell me that there were empty seats presumably from "packages" not getting sold... but like, the stadium was definitely still "full" if that makes sense. It wasn't like they were saying it was 20% vacant.

As an aside, to all of the Irish nationals on this board, if you can get the local release tickets and have the option to get any extra the IE family here will 100% takes those off your hands and I'd personally be willing to pay way above face. So get all you can, I know last time there was a set amount earmarked for Irish citizens like dublinirish referenced.

Also, FYI to everyone but last time around ND did not have control over a typical allotment of tickets and that made the traditional "lottery" setup at the time basically non-functional relative to the demand from ND fans.

+1 to that. I am planning on going and if I do it will be with a bunch of guys. You won't have to look beyond IE to sell them with interest.

for sure guys, I will do my best when the time comes

I'm also interested if you can get your hands on some. The wife and I are planning on a big Ireland/Europe trip with another couple but I'm the only one interested in the game so would just need 1.

Anybody want to meet me at Disneyland Paris a week before the game? No italics.

Thought they were teetering on going under (bankruptcy).
When I worked in Intl Telcom 10 years ago, the folks from France would always bag on the park, calling it a US invasion lol...

Looking for some guidance here... have the calls in and the money is ready to go.

I looked at the "Ultimate Tail Gating" package and really loved the concept until I found out it was somewhat isolated in an endzone. Great views for maybe half the game but Meh....

Have a bunch that committed in the past two days and I expect more. I think a corporate box (24) would give us a much better view of the game and likely a better overall experience. The only downside, (that I can see) is that we will miss a lot of fan interaction.

Has anyone been to Aviva and can you shed any guidance? Spoke to the reps and told them I would pull the trigger early next week. It's a long way to go and I don't want to be second guessing the decision.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Should have added, that I may have got in too late on the West (ND) side but was offered a box on Navy's side. Would I be correct in saying this shouldn't be an issue? Navy are good people. I would love to end up on the west end but I can't see the east end as posing a problem... particularly in a box. Appreciate any advice and/or observations.

release the non package tickets!

I could not wait and plans need to be made in advance. My understanding was that non-package tickets would be difficult to obtain.

Regardless, no remorse.

Well there are some extremists in any fan base but I've been to a couple of ND /Navy games and twice have sat in the middle of Navy folks. They were very good people and even better sports fans ... Even after I acknowledged that my service branch was Army. Lots of kidding, good natured vibes, and cheering for well executed plays regardless of the jersey colors.

In Jacksonville two years ago there was a father and son sitting in front of us. The father was USN, the son was ND grad. When I got back to my hotel in Atlantic Beach, a Navy Lt Commander in Blue Angels fatigues asked, "well, how'd we do?" I was wearing ND gear and replied, "You did well. We were aTD short." After he uttered some expletives, he explained he was an ND Man. Did premed at ND on Navy ROTC. Went to med school, entered the service, and when I met him he was the Flight Surgeon for the Blue Angels who had done an air show that day and were billeted at my hotel.

The relationship between ND and Navy still runs deep. Fierce competitors on the field, friendly foes in the stands.

Cheers and thanks for that! About 20 years ago I was golfing on Hilton Head by myself and wound up in a group of three. If I remember correctly, at least two were Rear Admirals (or similar)... all in their 80's, and two had worked at the Pentagon. Not sure if they were BSing me and I surely couldn't tell.

What I do know is that they had been close friends for many years, lost a few members of their group in the preceding years and were likely some of the finest men I had met in my life. We had a lot of fun on the course and I bought them lunch and a few beers. Turns out they liked Canadians... when we had a Navy.

I'm embarrassed to admit, I only learned the significance of Navy's contributions to the survival on ND in the past ten years or so. I really appreciate this series. Hate the chop blocks and agree we could strengthen and/or pad the schedule with a different opponent but.... HISTORY... LOYALTY... RESPECT. Pretty cool.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Thread bump.

So who's going or planning to? I've got tickets? I've got about 20 friends from Canada heading over and we will meet family in Ireland. Cousin has a friend that owns an establishment in Temple Bar.

Any thoughts on a pre-game rally? Still in the early planning stages, but if there was enough genuine interest I'm sure we could make something happen.

As was mentioned, I think there are three or four different options through Aer Lingus and their corporate partners. Everything I saw required booking a 10-14 day tour of Ireland. It didn't seem unreasonable price wise. I don't know?

I've been over a few times so a tour wasn't really practical to me. I ended up purchasing a corporate box (24). Expensive? Yes, but per ticket still less than I paid for USC v ND in 2015. Not sure what time the game starts yet but apparently the boxes open early... appetizers, meal and wine/beer.

I'll look up the site if you are interested.... they have a few different packages available.

Cheers and Go Irish!!

Found the link- https://collegefootballireland.com/corporate-hospitality/

This package looked very good but DublinIrish (as I recall) stated that it was in an end zone. Hope this helps. If interested in tickets only, I would give them an e-mail and see if they have a waiting list for tickets only. Best of luck!! Cheers and Go Irish!!

will let you guys know when the tickets go on sale in Ireland. Last time round they have a presale for folks involved in the IAFL (Amateur football league in Ireland) and I was able to grab some then.

The games in Ireland are cool but I wonder what Notre Dame gets out of it? I can't see them making any more money out of this then a home game. It's got to cost the AD a ton to fly the team to Ireland and house them. I can't see there being a huge Irish fan base they want to cater to. I talked to people who went to the 2012 game; they said every single person they met was there from the States.

Is it brand awareness? It's a big deal so it draws attention to Notre Dame as an academic institution? Not that ND is hurting for name recognition. And there's no way you can sell this to me as a recruitment strategy. "We've got to rotate a game to Ireland every ten years to tap into that rich Dublin H.S. talent base."

Maybe it's truly a selfless act from the school. The players like it. The fans love it. Maybe that's enough for the ND powers that be.
