Red Sox Nation "West" is probably just a bunch of posers rooting for a team that has come into much success in the past several years. I run into a lot of people who claim to be huge Sox fans but have no idea what a Red Sox lineup looked like prior to 2004. Just like any team that has a lot of success and is in the media spotlight they are going to get people who claim to be "fans".
With that said, I will give you props ACamp, the Sox just let one of the greatest hitters of this generation go, so if the Sox do find a way to claw their way into the postseason the Angels should probably have an easier route to the ALCS. However, I doubt my Sox will even make the postseason this year.

My prediction for the Playoff this year.
AL West - Angels
AL Central - White Sox
AL East - Yankees
Wild Card - Rays

Angels beat Cubs in WS 4-1.

Good Call... Reps

Well said Newc. It's true for all sports. Here in Arizona there are more Cowboys fans than Cardinals fans because the Cowboys have had more success.

It's so bad that even the Cardinals ownership is trying to do something about it. You can't buy a ticket to the Cowboys game unless you pair it with a preseason ticket against the Saints. The Cardinals are trying to prevent the Cowboys from having homefield advantage here in their own stadium.

And, (no offense Kaplan) there are a lot of Yankees fans who don't know a thing about baseball.

None taken, but every team has its stupid fans that just wear the gear. The Cubs probably have the most with the Sux right behind them. I know the Joba is the real deal and Pavano and Wright were two of the worst free agent moves ever. I also know that the Angels better not take Sept off b/c we all know what happens in Oct when you shut it down in Sept.

Newc, the success plays into it a bit I'm sure... but in all honesty my bad experiences with Sox fans, that go way beyond any other fan base not named Raider fans... does actually go back to the early 90's, maybe even possibly the late 80's... but it's all good, like I said I was kind of shocked when the team icons came along on this site and I saw how many respectful posters were Sox fans... I think it could be the transplants that are die hards who come out here want so bad to feel like they are still at home they take it WAY too far...
