The only reason I wouldn't take Mustain is because it would hurt with recruiting Jimmy C. for next year.
QueensNY said:I wasn't aware Jones had a rotator cuff injury, Chad Pennington has had the same injury(twice now) and most of the media here in NY is saying his career may be over. You basically need about a year and a half to come back from that. Unfortunately for the Jets Chad was rushed back, hopefully ND takes it cautious with Jones.
Alot of our recruits have gotten hurt, Jones, Parris, Ryan.

Chris James took the QB spot and Jones moved over to WR. James barely threw the ball most of the day, but in the end found Jones for the game tying TD in OT that was won on the point after.
No one locally seems to be making a big deal about it and Jones himself talked more about the banquet than any injury in recent interviews. Either Coach Spurlock and Jones were keeping it very quiet or it isn't as bad as everyone thinks. His grandmother's passing probably hurt him more than anything else. Jones has repeated numerous times, in local papers, that he is being recruited as a QB and the notion of being brought in as a WR was never mentioned by Cutcliffe, Weis or anyone else. Either he is lying or they are. Or everyone is on the level.
The only time I've heard Jones mentioned as a WR is on this board. That's it. And as soon as I saw the Prep Bowl highlights with him at WR, I knew immediately the rumors would start. Yes, he is fast and can run. But yes, he can throw to. I've seen him...live....really. He's good.
While I can appreciate the comparison, Jones is 18. Chad Pennington is 29 with 6 years of NFL beatings under his belt. Hold your forks on Jones future career and don't stick them in him just yet. He still lined up at wide receiver and made the game winning TD pass in the City Championship game the week before, so the fact that he played probably indicates his future isn't in jeopardy.
In closing, I nominate to move Jones to WR, Frazer to tight end and get Mustain.
Thankfully Rob Ianello is in charge of all this.

BGIF said:Tongue in cheek or not, that would leave only one QB when Charlie Weis wants two.
Thankfully Rob Ianello is Recruiting Coordinator and Charlie Weis is in charge of everything.
Under Charlie Weis, Ron Powlus, Jarious Jackson, Zak Kustok, Eric Chappell, Arnez Battle, Gary Godsey, Carlyle Holiday, Matt Lovcecchio, and Jared Clark all would have performed to their potential. Charlie would have tailored his offense to the talent on hand not forced Powlus to run the option nor Holiday to be dropback QB. Charlie may well have not recruited some of those athletes but if he had, or if he had inherited them, they all would have received better instruction, have had better on-field support, have had a better game plan, and they all would have excelled to the best of their abilities.
