Wow. Feel bad for the guy. Thank the good Lord it is only temporary.... not to say he will get out of it with no nerve damage/sensation loss at all, but it looks like he will be back on his feet soon enough from hearing the doctors prognosis. Could have been alot worse im sure, but it still sucks for a senior football player to get knocked out like that.

Blindside in practice... I mean, every football player has to be aware, but theres a point where you have to realize its a teammate as well. Its not like your playing your biggest rival. Make a solid block, but taking somebodys head off in practice... idk, maybe im just turning into a pansy the further i get away from the football field.

That was my exact thought, but you beat me to the post. Full speed special teams practice is dangerous enough, without getting blindsided by a much larger teammate.

I hope Munir has a speedy and complete recovery.

I agree...Many times the mentality is the same as the NFL...that is, kids feel like they need to do something to get the coach's attention. So they "lights out" somebody who isn't ready for it...hell I've seen it happen in "half rack" practice (just helmet and shoulderpads), and have seen some pretty tough collisions in shorts and t shirt practices.

Not sure how you fix it...you want these kids singly focused on excellence, which is rewarded w/ a starting spot...how do you keep that from becoming desperation...which is when stuff like this happens. I don't know the answer...apparently either do some coaches.

Several options.

1. Don't go LIVE with special teams practice and risk having one of your athletes paralyzed or killed. Special teams are kamikaze as kamikaze gets.

2. Well, I'm running out of time here, but so many more options. Cones, obstacles, people in various places along your route saying BOO! It's all about peripheral vision and hauling ass.

I wonder what the heck is the environment at Mizz that allows full speed special teams players to destroy each other at practice. Maybe they deserve what they wish for.
