Is it a coincidence that the most success we have had moving the ball on offense is when we spread the boys out and sling it? The only way we moved the ball on Michigan State was when we went with 5-wide. Then, in the red zone, on a crucial third down, we went back to that worthless "pro-set" with two wide receivers and failed and all but cost us the game.

Personally, I believe that spreading it out is the thing to do. This isn't the NFL, this is college football, and the spread has proven to be effective, very effective.

Just my honest opinion.

I agree. Throw the ball 50-60 times per game. The offensive line SUCKS!

Why try running? Weis is so damn stubborn and trys to run the damn ball to much when absolutely no holes open up. The RB's just run into the line and then fall down? Wow great coaching.

5 WR set:

-Tate
-Floyd
-Kamara
-Grimes
-Rudoulph

RB in to pick of blitzes/block. OR Run out from the back field for swing passes or SHOVEL passes. NO more screens. Our line sucks ass to much to do those.

I agree....I liked the spread much better than those terrible screens plays and running up the middle...But it is hard to change the offense mid stream...We sure can't pound the ball

I speculate, I can all but guarantee the "pro-set" will be scarped. The college game IS the spread attack. USC utilizes a pro attack, but only at certain times. They sling the ball a lot to three or four wide receivers. You wont win in the college game in a drag em' out dog fight. You win playing like Florida or Oklahoma.

Tell that to Ohio State.

I agree that we should use 4-5 WRs spread-type, some no huddle. The pro-set is not cutting it, especially never having a lead blocker anyway.

spreading it out will allow for running plays to work. i didn't understand that entire first half approach. from now on lets come out guns ablazin and see what happens. we can win these games coming up. purdue can sling it too though. defensively can we take that slant away just once?

Good plan. Do you think anyone would notice we were playing with 12 men on the field? :)

I agree.

Slinging the ball certainly seems to play to our strengths. There's nothing wrong with passing to set up the run. If our boys are flinging the ball all over the field, it will keep the defense back and maybe our suspect O-line could open a couple holes for Allen, Hughes and the boys.

Besides, I think it's gonna be challenging for any team to consistently cover Tate and Floyd.
