Okay so last week was short screen week.
This week wildcat week.
What’s next week… jet sweep week? Flea flicker week?

You guys are criticizing Denbrock still? Like for real?
You guys said no more screens! ✅
Love and Price be the feature of the offense✅
Team puts up over 400 yards of offense with 33 points and he still should be fired. Very bizarre. There’s one person to blame on the coaching staff and it isn’t Denbrock.

The game wasn't really on the offense, but the repeated inability to convert on 3rd or 4th & 1 (including where it gifted A&M 3 points, i.e., the difference in the game) is concerning.

And I guess this has already come up, but apparently we are very obviously tipping plays.

Maybe if we used all 11 players instead of giving the defense a numbers advantage by running wildcats on obvious run plays, we would have converted a few more of those.

Only two games but exactly what would expect to happen has happened:

Power Success Rate: Drop from 74.28% to 45.45%

PD Success Rate: Increase from 32.69% 43.90%

This is 9 guys blocking 8.

This is 7 guys blocking 9.

If love goes to where he is supposed to on the 2nd one, which is behind lambert, he probably scores a TD. Lambert could have taken a better angle to not get slowed down, but IMO love panicked and went the one absolute place he couldn't. Worst case he rams it up the gut and just gets the first down.

You don’t hate the Wildcat anymore when they block it like this. Look at Wagner, Schrauth and others.
Yes, yes I do.

Our line, as shown in the 2 xweets, is not consistent enough to say we are running here, try to stop us.
So the wildcat telegraphs the play, eliminates part f the field (the QB side as mentioned), leading to a drastically reduced chance of success.

It reduces complexity and decision making times for the D without adding anything useful to counter.
Maybe if the RB had the ability to throw and the usually ignored QB could catch, the wildcat would be a good trick play...like a fake punt.
As a staple for short yardage, it sucks. It may be more successful since we have exited the worst stretch of our schedule, but that success is ephemeral and will not last against good or (hopefully) playoff teams.

I tend to agree. When the wildcat was all the rage, I didn't particularly care for it then. I really don't care for it now when you consider the RB and TE this roster has at it's disposal. Interesting wrinkle, but I hope it goes away.

Give the ball to Love and Price. Being able to run the ball makes life incredibly easier for every single other aspect of the team. Defense, special teams, coaching. Carr looks like he's the goods, too, so why screw around?

I think they're trying to imitate what Leonard was last year with the ball in his hands and you knew he was running it and still couldn't stop the 1-3 yard gain. The problem is Leonard had Love or Price there to lead the way, where Carr is motioning out to be a WR.

The 4th down stop is poorly designed PLUS Love improvised.

There was probably some poorly designed Leonard runs last year, but he rarely if ever bounced it like Love did there.

The problem with these type of plays is we over use them. We are getting not cute with them. If you used it twice that’s one thing, but when you use it 7 or 8 times you are surprising anyone.

Maybe, but Lambert also couldn't get over there fast enough. They were on Love and he was still looking for someone to block. Maybe if Love waits a beat, Lambert clears a lane, and the outside guy overpursues, it's great.
But that's a lot of things that need to go right when the other team knows what you're doing and crashes the box.

I understand the limitations in the QB run game and it's really disappointing but I get it. CJ ain't Riley Leonard and I really hate that every time it is 3rd and 4th and short. Last year everyone knew what we were doing and we made it work anyway. And I loved it

As this illustrates, it's not just that we were doing the wildcat, it's that there was nothing we were showing other than handing it to Love.

The only thing I like about the wildcat is it eventually opens up big possibilities in the passing game out of that formation, whether that involves RB passes or laterals to the QB. However, using shitty plays against great teams to set up big plays against lesser teams makes little sense to me.

Let's see how many times he passes 5 yards behind the line for a screen when they need 8 yards.

Ill say this. Quick back story. Born and raised in the Islands. We had WGN. Cable network. So i saw all ND games. Cubbies too. Predominantly. That's how I became a fan.

I remember
Some of the Holtz yrs. That's when I really started following the program. Holtz inspired. Lead. And I honestly think. That MFMF is as close to Holtz. Again. I haven't followed this program as much as some of you had. And maybe im wrong. Freeman could somehow turn out to be a bust. But there's something about this guy that I believe in. I won't say he doesn't flinch. What I would say tho is he believes in what he believes in. And I do too. He has a vision. And in some ways. Right or wrong. 4 yrs now. He should know what he wants his team to look like.

Look. For everyone who wants Ash fired. I agree. But neither ND nor Freeman. I don't think.will do that. I think there more worried about how it'll look.

Lastly ill say. Im BIG on Freeman. I honestly do think hes level headed, Smart and focused. Last yrs D. And this yrs offense with CJ. We're #1 in the country. Easy. Carr is first name HIM. Last name OTHY. Outside of past QBs. Clausen? Quinn? Carr can. Hopefully will be special. Like really good. This offer is LITERALLY carrying this team.

Am an Em should've been a win. Miami should've been a win too. MD was too cautious in that game. But I get it. New QB and all. Real quick. This defense is really lots. Looks confused. If that's the case. Ash is doing something different
Guys seems lost and confused. Same guys from last yr.

I trust OUR Coach. Ahhhhhh our current DC. Nope. Nadal. Neyet. This team is good. A Denbrock offense and a Golden D. Tell me if im wrong fam. ND's #1 in the nation rn.

Alright, now one of the actual ND grads here tell me if that means we're good or not.
When on script, our offense is behind Purdue/Rutgers/NC State. When off script, our offense is in the same ballpark as Bama/Oregon/Mizzou/

I don't think you're wrong. I love your story about how you became an Irish fan.

And if you'd be willing to donate some of your periods to @2008, you'd become my new favorite poster.
