A live chat feature on IE would be great.

We already had a live chat in the USF thread during the game, and it made me almost leave the site because of the all the negativity, crying, and out of hand responses. I don't see that turning out well

In an attempt to clean up the Gameday threads as well, I would ask posters to be mindful of the amount of cleanup we have to do and not compound the problem.

What I mean is quoting graphic, obscene, or somehow otherwise innappropriate messages while adding your own quip. While it's usually witty and funny during that time, it only makes our clean up job twice as hard, as you are simply multiplying the number of posts we have to delete.

It is hard to delete some of these messages as fast as you guys want or expect when some are contributing to a slower pace by quoting them.

Thanks, and an additional thanks to those of you who PMed other Mods and myself to draw our attention to matters than needed to be dealt with on Saturday and beyond. It's a big help to speed up the process, so I send a sincere thank you to those who did.

Let's crush Denard and co. on Saturday.

I dont want people banned for expressing themselves or theyre frustrations. I do not want the site closed during gamedays but I don't need a new thread started because you are upset about a turnover. I don't need 7 threads about how ND will never be good again because they are down 3 in the 1st quarter.

It's like if you have trash, you can put it in the garbage where it belongs, or you can throw it on the ground like a ****. Basically don't be a ****

If this idea is morphing into a gameday venting thread/chat -- where people can type boorish things without impugnity -- then I personally think that's a great idea. And if you don't like it you can just go to the normal thread.

Re: threads, I have always though that on occasion this board is a little too slavish to the "put it in the thread" concept. IMO the most useful system is to have a thread for each separatestand-alone topic (a loose concept itself, I know).

It's just that, for example, occasionally some separate thing will occur regarding a player, and it gets put in like his recruiting thread and I have to click for a while just to figure out what the new event or thought is.

Oh, and another thing about the no-censored thread/chat, is that it will cut-down on the obligatory Sunday apology threads, which I just find uncomfortable, personally...

There is a button in each thread to take you to the first unread post.

Saves a lot of time, and clicking.

Good point. And that does save a lot of time. But, that function still doesn't solve the problem I've identified if the user hasn't read all of the posts unrelated to the new story.

For example, there are many pages that I've never clicked-on, because I'm not interested in the subject-matter (a salute to specificity in thread titles). Now, if someone posts in one of these threads with an interesting subtopic (let's say a lesser-rated recruits dies, Heaven forbid, and it's just posted in their recruiting thread) in these cases the "last unread" button is unhelpful. Thus, to figure out why the page is blowing up I'll just have to click on the Last Page and work my way backward.

Again, not trying to rock the boat at all, and I'm not at all married to my suggestion. I just think the problem is useful to take into account when discussing thread etiquette and/or what constitutes a topic being "New Thread-Worthy" (which I imagine is a lot like being "sponge-worthy").
