ABC Journalist James Meek knew girl he asked for nude photos was 16

A 16-year-old girl told investigators that journalist James Meek sent explicit messages to her despite her informing him of her age. Naked photos of the teen included her Snapchat username.

On January 31, 2023, Meek was arrested and charged with transporting child pornography.[65] The Department of Justice noting Meek had boasted "Have you ever raped a toddler girl? It’s amazing.", and repeatedly sharing a video showing the rape of an infant girl.[42][66][67] As part of his plea deal, Meek acknowledged sending the video and the comments - but no finding was made about whether the "erect adult penis" in the faceless video was his own, nor did his confession reference impersonating a woman on Snapchat.

I think most of us assumed that Pizzagate was some crazy conspiracy nonsense that got debunked. With this new development, we now have to wonder if the debunking was legit or a cover up.

Rolling Stone editor Noah Shachtman overrode the writer without her knowledge. Infuriated writer quit two months later

Shachtman removed the part of the article where the writer had a source that Meek had been raided as part of a Fed investigation into images of child sex abuse.

Schachtman asked photo staffers to run story with a generic photo instead of a picture of Meek. From note posted in newsroom-wide Slack channel "Let's not use a picture of the guy in question, james gordon meek".

Even if someone can offer up some reasonable explanation (like Shachtman telling others that the writer hand't nailed down her sourcing adequately) for all of those items, Shachtman went even further. Despite a source that said the raid was part of child sex abuse images, Shachtman edited the article to imply multiple times that this was a nefarious raid by the Justice Dept on a journalist.

Ultimately the question is why would this editor take these steps to not only kill this story but to try to show Meek as the victim???

I smoked a few in my day, but when you build your reputation as a weed publication it's hard to take them seriously even if they don't resemble their roots anymore.

But yeah, eating out in general has gotten too pricey lately. That much is true. They're having to cover costs paying people $15+ to come in and work a fast food job. The local Monster head hunters are still sending me desk jobs paying $18-21 for some reason. No thanks!
