Calling football must be a near impossible job. The color guys who know the game get things wrong all the time. ALL THE TIME. With that being said, Mayock is fine with me. He is a HUGE asset for the program in that the assistant coaches can pull his picture out and ask, "Do you know who this guy is? He's the guy that will be talking about you during the NFL Combine on the NFL Network. He's also the guy that will call your home games on national TV. He's the guy that will be building your NFL resume over the next 4 years. You go anywhere else, you lose that benefit"

Recruiting is sales and sales is the application of features and benefits to the buyers needs. I would play the Mayock card on every visit.

I remember this. It's the closest I ever came to putting out a hit on an NBC announcer.

I think it was the Pitt game in 2012; ND eventually won, but Pitt took a 2-possession lead going into the 4th qtr and dude kept saying it again and again. Mayock has also said it other games too, but not quite as much as he did that first time.

I love Mayock... Think the guy does a great job and rather not have my announcers be homers....

Maybe prepping for a permanent change? I would honestly hate to lose Mayock as the color guy.

I'll put it this way-when he says 'this is fun' pertaining to difficult to bad situations for Notre Dame and says it with a bit of glee- now I say 'this is fun' watching him handle a difficult situation. I watch Notre Dame football to pull for my sports entity-not to hear some guy rip/cut/ slash the very hand that feeds him. Get people in there that are neutral to a positive lean or don't call it Notre Dame Saturdays. For the life of me I don't understand why a Notre Dame follower would not want more of a pro Notre Dame call to these games-this guy literally was rooting for the other team earlier in the year. $#@% who does that? Trust me the radio has been on the last few times Notre Dame has been at home-that's a %%$# shame but its the truth.
