did anyone catch Mark May's post game conjecture or reaction to our victory over Oklahoma? I did not. Would anyone who saw it please fill me in on how he took the "horrible news"?

May had good things to say about the Irish's victory over Oklahoma. Wasn't any fluff, no joking, pretty cut and dry.

At the end of Gameday, however, he donned a Lou mask and did his best Lou impression saying that the Irish were back, had an outstanding defense, etc etc. It was amusing.

Must just kill him inside. Poor guy... :smilewink

Oh I guarantee it's eating him up, him and Cowherd are eating man-sized portions of crow and it's most likely chapping their asses...I love it! If ND could just put the proverbial icing on the cake and win that Nat'l Championship, I'd love to hear them backpeddling then.

Which brings me to another point, the biggest, and most oblivious, of the haters just can't be strayed from their ridiculously un-Notre Dame perspective...even after ND went into Norman and layed the smack down on the Sooners, they just say "Oklahoma isn't as good as we thought they were". My lord man! Where does it stop?! Would they do the same if we beat Bama?

All of college football sucks this year!

Not saying we'd beat Alabama, but I can imagine what they'd say if we pulled the upset. At this point, going 8-0 with this schedule, the excuses begin to look pretty flimsy. You don't go through that many teams, some of them certainly decent at least, and just get lucky. This is not the same squad that went 8-0 in 2002 and got exposed late in the year. The defense is better, they can run the ball offensively, and can do a little passing when absolutely necessary. Plus I would say that the 2002 team got worse as the year went on, it feels like this team is getting better.

Bama is going to lose to LSU, so we can go the NC and beat OR or KSU. Then everyone can talk about how we really didn't do anything and got lucky we didn't play an SEC team.

I just enjoy each win even more knowing the haters die a little more inside every Saturday.

Guarantee they don't care as much as you think they do. If anything they care because they lose "relevancy" as ND haters and they don't get as much attention. But they really could probably care less. Ratings ploy. Colin basically admits that.

If LSU wins out we would play them, not Oregon or KSU IMO.

Obviously LSU will be the top 1 loss team if they win out, but I'm not sure the voters could justify jumping them over an undefeated ND/KSU/OR. The SEC will pitch a fit, but I just don't see it.

He actually even agreed with the holding call, which almost knocked me over.

I'm hoping Oklahoma absolutely rolls a ranked ISU team on the road this week. Will make our win that much prettier.

He glossed over it real quick and let Lou bask. He and a lot of other people at espn were very very disappointed. They are now saying OU isnt that good. I heard Herbstreit say today that Notre Dame's wins to that point were against 'to quote-weak schedule'. Man it never ends with these rubes. Herbstreit said in essence Notre Dame was the lesser of the 3 teams left undefeated against Ala. Its all going to go up in smoke this weekend when LSU beats Alabama. Then they are all going to look like they're just guessing.

I am not sure what to make of this. It's probably just acting in Mark May's case. You obviously couldn't ask Lou to be a ND hater.
Will that Jury stuff and all. It's no surprise that Cowherd loves the pac 12. It's the morning show in the west coast. I'm sure a lot of what ESPN says is all scripted...

I am surprised that many of you don't realize that what Mark May and Lou Holtz do is all for show and fun. I thought that was pretty obvious by now. Mark and Lou respect each other a ton and their on-air fued is for amusement and ratings. I even believe there was an article about this somewhere.

Same thing goes for Cowherd. I use to love him 4 or 5 years ago. As I got older and realized that he changes his thoughts and beliefs year to year, even show to show. You will learn to stop taking these people for everything they say.

They are very knowledgeable in the area they are speaking, but what these companies care about is ratings/listeners. These guys bring it. The fact that a thread like this is being made all the time, about Cowherd/May, proves these guys are doing their jobs.

It started with Kornheiser/Wilbon, on PTI. Their argumentative relationship was so popular that ESPN started playing with it on other programs. Sean Salisbury/John Clayton.... Stephen A. Smith/Skip Bayless............. Mark May/Lou Holtz. It has never worked as well as the original: Kornheiser/Wilbon, because they argued, but respectfully. People watched them, and thought, "That's me and my Michigan buddy". People watched Salisbury/Clayton and Smith/Bayless and thought, "What a bunch of douchebags."

Not picking on ya, as I've seen a few other posters say this too, but there is no way that is happening this weekend. Have you seen LSU's offense???

Agree. I think after the game May and Lou go out for stogies and strippers. Lou gives inside info on Kelly's game plan and they ship out 5K to bookies in vegas all on ND.

If this was a game in Tuscaloosa or an afternoon game in Baton Rouge I would agree with you. But it's a night game in Death Valley and strange things happen there at night. The Hat always has a few extra tricks up his sleeve at night at home. I think he's only lost one game night game there in his coaching tenure. I'm not saying with certainty that LSU will win but it wouldn't shock me.

I used to believe that Mark May was sincere in his anti-ND passion, actually trying to be a dick about a team he doesn't like. However, during the halftime report last Thursday I got a different feeling. Mark and Lou were discussing ND-OU, and for the first time I could kind of see that Mark was having fun with it, yelling about how ND would get stomped. He had always been convincing in hating on ND, but for the first time I saw that he was enjoying himself, not just being an intolerable ***.
