Freeman has confidence in him (for whatever reason) that he can correct the offense and right the ship.

In Parker’s defense, the wide receivers, collectively, created little separation all year — with some limited exceptions.

However, the offense approach, creativity, and play calling largely devolved as the season progressed. I doubt it was just due to the WRs….

It’ll be interesting to see how they perform next year with losing Hartman, Alt, Estime, Tyree … They’ve got to bring in a bunch of talented, ready-to-play guys.

And some of the reasons the wide receivers couldn’t get separation was because he did absolutely nothing to help the wide receiver.

Since day 1, Freeman has talked about the importance of recruiting. Well, his OC decisions have caused the entire WR room to leave. You could argue that Parker isn't to blame, but how many truly great offences would see this level of defection? If the players believed in the OC they would stay.

In the end, the fish rots from the head down. Freeman let the players have too much say over hiring Klein. Then he panicked after Swarbricked blocked Ludwig and elevated Parker without the resume. And now he's sticking with his friend when the results show us how entirely stupid that is.

I wanted Freeman to work out but now we have a coach who regularly screws up on game day, can sign players but can't keep them, and makes awful coaching decisions.

Let's just get through year 3 and then we can all start tracking the ND plane again.

And CS is/was a better recruiter than GP.

You would think we were 6-6 and had a #17 class coming in based on this board. Jesus Christ.

We're 9-3 with and are 9th in the SP+, this is a very good team, even with the often dysfunctional offense. We hired a 35-year old first time HC. Did we really think we were immediately going to go 11-1, 12-0 with no hiccups?

We are signing another 91+ avg recruit rank class (basically never happened under Kelly) + 5 star QB + #1 QB in the portal inbound and we're bitching because a couple mediocre WRs transferred after we fired a shitty WR coach.

You just don’t get it. We will never be able to replace guys who had 20 catches for 250 yards over 12 games.

So you’re saying they’d be the eleventh man then at least against OSU

I’m still struggling to figure out the Stuckey firing. The only thing that makes sense is Parker and Stuckey didn’t jive, and Freeman picked Parker.

If that is true, a “Head Coach Search 2024/2025” thread could be made now.
Stuckey results were also dreadful over 2 years.

I thought it made perfect sense. He was alluding to the things he’s alluded to in the past with no details

Yeah, I keep coming back to this all week, and man it was a long one when it comes to this board. I've actually had to remind myself that they just won their last two games and finished 9-3. To this point no commits have jumped.

A lot of candy assery out here that either doesn't recall or forgot seasons like 1994, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2016.

I’m one of the biggest critics and I actually think everything going on is ok

But, must land wr coach and leonard asap. . 2 good portal wrs, and freeman needs to figure out who and how offense is going to be developed coached ran and called, it’s not Parker alone

Hell i would even add to that list 2010, 2011 and 2014 where our last savior coach with a million years of experience lost 5 games.
This season is actually pretty similar record wise and team performance wise to 2017 where we went 10-3 (something we have a chance to do this year) and that was in year 8 of Brian Kelly.

There was always going to be some learning on the job, but I am surprised by the utter lack of patience with a bright young head coach winning 9 games and then potentially 10 games year 2 while working through some of that learning. 9-10 wins a year is obviously not the end game, but the impatience seems short sighted and somewhat unrealistic at times.

Parker was incredibly maddening to watch and listen to this year, but MF is not going to publicly bash anybody…just isnt. Go watch him talk about Dave Clawsons comments when asked about it by RG3. He’s all class. I suspect he understands the shortcomings, will give Parker a year to improve and show he is capable and if he doesnt we will win 10 games next year which will be enough for Freeman to retain his job at which point he would move on from Parker.
