Haha, I've tried to hold my opinions when I saw this thread because as a Sox fan I am effected by this on more than one level.
When the whole fiasco was going on I was all doom and gloom, get rid of Manny NOW!!! However, as it has began to sink in, and I have looked over the picture tribute to Manny over on the Sons of Sam Horn site, I am growing more and more depressed. I love Manny Ramirez and think he is quite possibly one of the greatest RH hitters of all time. Absolutely clutch, with a beautiful swing and an even better eye. The guy was just a pure hitting machine.
I really wish this all could have been avoided. The whole organization has to claim some blame here. The FO and Manny both acted poorly throughout all of this. But I guess it was just time to move on and each go their separate ways.
Regardless, Manny will always be one of my favorite players of all time, right there behind Ted Williams, and he is even more special because I have watched his whole career in a Sox uni. I remember in Dec of 2000, when he first donned that Sox jersey smiling ear to ear and I made thought the Sox would win atleast 4 rings during his stay here....2/4 isn't so bad.
Good luck to Manny in LA and throughout the rest of his career. As long as he stays out of pinstripes I will continue to root for him wherever he plays. Thanks for all the memories Manny!!
