That is crazy. For many reasons, one of which is that you're going to need another transfer QB this year and benching your previous one for the failures of his underprepared offensive coordinator is not the sales pitch you want.
You don't actually know that, that's exactly the point. And the pitch is what it should be: "help us win games and you'll play. You're coming here as a business decision, which is fine. But that goes both ways, so you should expect us to make business decisions as well." Besides, if the OC is that bad, why would any decent transfer want to play here in the first place?

The flip side of your argument is that if ND keeps brining in mercenaries, then what reason does a high school kid have to seriously consider it? Why would/should Carr or Knight actually stick with their commitment? They're just going to go out and recruit over you with some 23-yeard old who isn't quite good enough for the League but wants better NIL opportunities, so why bother? Go somewhere else where you'll actually get a shot to play.

What many of you guys don't understand is that this team is getting worse as the season progresses. Sure there were "worse losses" - but not with this much talent! Not against a team like Louisville. No excuses for this crap. MF is NOT the answer, nor are his dreadful coordinators. We are in for many seasons of this shit while he is in charge....sorry, just the facts

We’re basically Iowa with a worse record.

Defense and Golden aren’t getting many complaints from me.

Offense is a hot mess.

4th and 11…

Hoping for a warm bowl game at this point.
You like missed tackles and linebacker blitzes that don't get home? Golden is mid, it just wasn't the biggest problem tonight by far.

Exactly Kelly should got fired multiple times plus the cheating scandal, 3 8-5 seasons, 2016 4-8 season, numerous times players were in trouble for stealing, drugs or who knows what else.
Bob Davie was a horrible hire. Never trust a Canadian to hire the next football coach

Ty Willy was the 2nd choice and preferred golf over recruiting

Weis was another first time HC who was a helluva OC but over his skis as HC

BK brought ND back to respectability. Year one beating SC was a huge turning point. Then he stepped on his pecker after the 2012 season w/ the Eagles flirtation. I was all for firing him after 2016 b/c that was inexcusable.

BK leaving for LSU left ND flat footed. If it wasn’t MF, it was likely Fickell. The only way Fickell is the better hire is knowing who he has as DC & OC. MF got a lot of grace last season as a 1st time HC. The honeymoon was over after the OSU debacle. Eyebrows were raised again after his comments on the Duke game regarding playing for FG vs TD. Tonight it came to a head. Parker is going to be what makes or breaks MF so he better cut loose after this season. I know they’re buddies but how many coaches can you allow learning on the job?

We all like & respect MF & want him to be the guy. He still can but his margin for error is minimal.

Even if Minchey or Angeli are good enough to play next year, you want them to earn it and not just be handed the job. They should earn the job by beating someone who has done it before. That's the way to ensure the best play at the position.

Under the new rules, ND should target a top transfer QB every year. if Minchey, Angeli, Carr, or Knight win the job in a given year, then you adjust that strategy. But until a youngster steps up, seek out the best you can at the position.

You don’t go from being one of the worst coaches in college to being one of the best… he’s worse than I even thought

Fickell wasn't willing to pull a BK and leave his team before their bowl game. Right or wrong, ND wasn't willing to wait the month or so for that to happen.

No idea what you’re talking about

and there’s no guarantee he would be successful at ND

Hard to earn it or step up when you get recruited over and the mercenary they bring in is handed the job as part of the deal to transfer in, and then you don't get a chance to even see meaningful snaps when the deal doesn't work out. Seems like a good way to earn it is to get actual game snaps. Even Saban gave the backups a chance to win the job. They didn't get the job done, but he kept his word and gave them a chance.

It doesn't have to be against Southern Cal or even Clemson, but they should both get meaningful snaps against Pitt and Stanford at the least.

Even watching this game as a fan, I felt out of it. There are deep issues with Parker and offensive design, Golden sometimes does infuriating things, and MF makes rookie mistakes. But having three night games in a row is brutal, especially with the way the last two ended. Even if we had pulled this off somehow, I was not enjoying it.
