Worst case? We can do a lot worse than 8-4 against that schedule. Worst case for me, probably 6-6. I'm willing to give Kelly the rope he needs to set up his offense for at least 2 years to expand his playbook.

It's a season and a half a way, and we are really talking about what it will take to not fire Coach Kelly?!?!?! Really?!?! Come on fellas, just for today, just for me, be positive....We have no idea what those teams will look like in 2012, and only a small preview of what ours should look like. I think by then we will be fielding a team we can be proud of that will compete with anybody.

an 8 win season would be good

an 8 win season would be good

10 wins would be outstanding, more wins that that?? wishful thinking.

As long as the games are competitive I am not overly concerned. We have been in every game this year, except Stanford, and we'll only be better by that point.

I'd take 8-4. Anybody he would be discouraged by going 8-4 against that schedule is a moron.

But it's two years down the road. Who knows? We could have the most dominant team in the country in 2012. Or we could be a struggling team and go 5-7. Who knows? Trying to predict a team's record two years in advance is idiotic.

Looking down the road, we probably have Crist, Wood, Riddick, Jones, Eifert, Martin, Watt (replacing Stewart in 2011, presumably), Cave (he has another year of eligibility, I believe) and possibly another WR (assuming Michael Floyd goes pro after 2010) returning. That's 8-9 starters, which is not a bad situation at all, IMO. The offense will be the strength of the team, as usual.

Defensively, you have Lewis-Moore, possibly Nix, Shembo (I'm assuming he lands a starting role by 2012), Te'o, Calabrese, Jamoris Slaughter and Zeke Motta. That's 6-7 starters. That's not bad, but we lose both starting corners, and the secondary could be an issue.

8-4 would be fine by me. If we won 10+, I'd be thrilled.

The bottom line is, who the hell knows what shape this program could be in by 2012? We could be worldbeaters by then.

Looks like a pretty brutal schedule, ours is pretty monstrous as well but I think yours wins. Congrats...I guess

9-3 is the best possible case I can foresee against that schedule, even assuming a significant improvement in our team between now and then.

I'm a little disappointed in the responses, but I guess its evidence as to how our program has suffered over the last decade. During the Holtz era we had some brutal schedules, and 2 losses was scandalous.

We need to be back there, and if Kelly is who we hope he is, then we should be 10-2 against that schedule three years into his regime.
