This is from Pete Sampson's II article on Rivals:

"I like Notre Dame a lot. I like the program. I like Coach Weis."

Jackson said he's been told Notre Dame wants to take four linebackers in this class with the only offers made thus far going to verbal commitment Aaron Nagel and USC verbal commitment Chris Galippo. Jackson believes he's in the mix with prospects such as Chris Colasanti, Steve Paskorz and Andrew Dailey as linebackers under consideration.

These are my thoughts. Please don't post them on another message board unless you're going to give me credit for them. Thank you:

This sheds some new light on the ND recruiting trail. FOUR linebackers. I would have thought three up until now. With Nagel already in, my guess is that Jackson would be a verbal on the spot of an offer. I think Andrew Dailey is genuinely interested and could end up Irish based on the information provided by the Holy Trinity. Ohio State and Penn State will surely push as well. Where ND stands with Colasanti and Paskorz is beyond me right now.

A couple of things:

I know he is a Top 100 guy right now, but I'm not sold on Paskorz. He's about 6-0, 210 and is being recruited as a linebacker, safety and even running back. Nice player, but my instincts make he hesitant about him for some reason. I'm not sold.

I like Colasanti. He hits hard and has great pursuit. As an Inside Linebacker, however, I'd rather have Jackson. On the outside, Nagel and Andrew Dailey. If there is a fourth, I hope it is Marshall Williams from Georgia. He's also on the outside.

I'd still be happy with Paskorz and Colasanti, but those are the four I'd prefer.

What about the Irby kid from California? He has the size and speed.

Yeah, at 6-3, 235 he doesn't have ideal TE size.

Rivals lists him as an athlete.

If I remember correctly, from a Michael Williams post several months ago, he plays ILB for the same school as Williams. From the limited amount I have read on him, I like him.

Some of the fellas over on the BGI board like Irby a lot.

At that size, 4.6 speed is awfully good if that's a legit time. How he performs laterally, I don't know.

I saw Irby and Williams (St. Bonaventure) play last year during playoffs. Irby is very athletic and has some speed. Williams was all over the field. Will be going this upcoming year when St. Bonny plays Oaks Christian (Clausen and Tyler). Should be fun to see them play against each other...

Rumor is that ND is also talking to Chris Walker... 6'4 225 4.55. This kid has long ass arms and has offers from everybody in the South, ranging from Miami to Alabama. He likes Notre Dame & has great grades, so we will see. He has been flying under the radar, but is picking up a lot of attention.

His Rivals picture shows him in a USC hoody.

Better news about Irby.

Michael Williams told Irish Eyes that Irby is both very interested in Notre Dame and getting an offer from Notre Dame.

From the Tuesday, April 18th edition of the Ventura County (Ca) Star.."NIKE CAMP: St. Bonaventure's Blaine Irby had the best overall rating at the Nike Football Training Camp at USC Saturday. Despite less than ideal conditions, Irby did 35 reps on the 185-pound bench press, had times of 4.58 for the 40 and 4.23 for the shuttle run and had a vertical leap of 33 1/2 inches." side note...Michael Willaims had the best vertical leap at 39.1 inches. As I stated before, saw the kid play last year in the CIF Southern Section Playoffs; very athletic, hard-nosed and talented. The crowd was "wow'd" many times by this kid.

I truly believe Williams is 50-50 ND and Michigan.

So many options this year. I really don't have a preference on anyone at any position anymore.

Jackson's latest combine numbers -- a 4.59 40-yard dash and a 4.18 shuttle

Per Ryan O'Leary at BGI.

those are good numbers, so when will ND offer or will they? he maybe the best LB in his area.

i dont see an offer. when you look at the numbers and the breakdown it seems that linebacker is a position that they comfortable with. nagel has already committed. paskorz has too, and he might get a look at safety but right now hes lb. chris donald has an offer and is down to two, tennessee and nd. lorenzo edwards has an offer and might play safety or linebacker. martez wilson has an offer and the staff seems to be in good shape with him too. gallipo's offer is still on the table and probably will be for a long time, i dont see him swaying unless the trojans really do poorly this season or lose badly to ND. wilson might get the offer from miami but they're late in the game and notre dame has been there all along. i think this essentially leaves dailey and jackson out of the list. first post. its a long one.

Not a problem. It was a good one. Welcome.

I agree with you 100%. The only way Jackson gets offered is if Donald says no, then they go to Brian Smith. And I don't see Smith turning down an offer should he get one.
