As far as recruiting goes, I am pretty sure someone had said before that when Nick Saban was at MSU he couldn't get anyone to come there, but once he joined a much larger and recognizable program, that changed everything. I guess the same could be said for BK and his recruiting prior to ND, at least I hope.

do not forget the places he has coached have much lower standards outside of football i am not sure how many of the guys from cincy would have been accepted at ND he wanted to lower the req. of his players so lets see what he does but he is two faced and will lie right to your face so be wary of anything he says I LOVE ND but not kelly

P.S. Capital letters should be at the beginning of each sentence, not in the middle. Unless you are describing a person or place by name, like John Smith, or Mercy Hospital, or using the letter I.

You have to step on them really hard to make goosewine. The quacking will make you sick, that and the slimy shit on your feet. Not much of a bouquet. Drink right after pressing, don't sit it on a shelf. This stuff goes bad quickly.

ESPN is reporting that Torrian Wilson (an OG I believe) has decommitted from Stanford. Looks like a 4 star kid according the the ESPN rankings. Anyone know if we are even in the conversation for this kid? Was their an offer ever extended?

I'll take a coach anyday who can develope a 2 or 3 star athlete into a 4 or 5 star athlete... anyday....as Coach Kelly has demonstrated he can do. Weis took 3 and 4 star athletes and kept them there....thus his losing record.

The odds of being consistently good and competing with the likes of USC are not very good with a roster full of 2-3 star players........sure you'll have a year here and there with success but you won't maintain it....keep in mind BK won with 2-3 star players in the Big East.....not in the PAC10 or SEC........if he was in those conferences.....he would likely be middle of the pack with those recruting efforts......

This thread annoys me. All i keep hearing is Recruiting vs Coaching them up. You need both. You can couch up as many 2 and 3 stars as you want but against the big boys we will turn into Boston College. A good team who can compete for conferene championships, that's it. You can recruit with the best of them but if you cant coach them we are right back to where we were with Weis. The truth is Kelly is a question mark. He can be a legend or another flop but he has to recruit otherwise we will have a new coach in 5 years.

Exactly. And we won't know that for another year or two. The consternation right now is silly.

We know that Kelly can coach like crazy. Indications are that he has the fire and the personality to recruit very well.

We'll have to wait and see...

Put my 54 year old ass on THAT list and it's still a great list... then again, I don't claim to be a master judge of talent (superior to BK) that doesn't have 5* next to their name.

I don't think they are all a pipe dream, we could land a few of them or none of them, either way we will field a team next year.....That doesn't mean I wouldn't be stoked if we got any of em, I just think we will be fine either way.

Exaxtly, and since we are not in a conference we either have to compete for the NC or nothing. Good coaching and recruiting are both essential to compete at the top level every year. Being Boston College is ok for some people, but, we are ND!

Kelly recruited TWO 2 star QBs, Dan Levour at CMU and Tony Pike at Cincy...... both were not even looked at by alot of schools coming outta high school. Both are projected in the top 5 QBs in the NFL draft this year.

I dont care how he recruits, as long as he can develope those recruits to the best of their abilities. He knows talent, he builds talent. Stars dont mean shit.

Weis got a 5star RB in his first full year recruiting. He will go undrafted this year at the end of his college football career.

Greatest thing i have heard kelly say about recruiting thus far when asked about recruiting juniors going into senior year before signing day......

"(As a staff) we'll do both," he said. "But my personal calendar will be about this class, because I've got to get in those homes. I've got to sit down with those kids.

"The phone calls just keep them alive. I've got to go close. The only way you can do that is you've got to be face to face."

After a while... arguing about the existence of, or against the existence of God (similar to arguing about a class not yet finalized or with an on field track record) - a thing we can only know upon death or at the end of the 2010 season - sort of makes all and every post that is negative (unless it's heralding a 5*) leaving the arguer.... mediocre in and of himself..... yawn...
