But, Kelly has been a proven winner and I'll take his word wayyyy before I believe a former NFL offensive coordinator.

I think Kelly is the right fit, and can get ND 10 wins by next year in my opinion.

2012 will be TOUGH. Michigan, USC, Oklahoma, Miami, Boston College, and Pitt. Going undefeated against those six would make be an incredible feat.

2013 will be hard, as well. UM, USC, Oklahoma, and Arizona State.

The difference between BK and Charlie is he didn't tell you why he (BK) was so great and what a huge advantage he was going to be. He exudes an amazing confidence without any arrogance.

It is time to put up or shut up this fall but I really do believe he has the skills, personality and system to do it. I also think he believes it - "...this progam isn't broken..."

Also, doesn't it look like his face looks thinner than in the spring. He looks like he is getting into game shape as well.

I think it depends alot on how he develops the young talent we have now, and the young talent he's got coming in. His system is complicated especially for lineman so it will take a good year for them to get it down. I have a lot of confidence in BK and his staff but only time will tell in the end.

I think Kelly is the first complete coach ND has had since Lou. I fully expect Notre Dame to improve and consistently approach 10 wins and BCS games. But winning the NC is another story. We'll see if Kelly can recruit well enough.

I'm guessing you mean close the deals he has lined up... Right now, we may have 99 problems but good recruits in line ain't one.

Kelly has recruited really well. But he's going to have to really kick ass in recruiting over a period of 3 or 4 years to build a NC team in my opinion. Which if ND wins 9 or 10 games this season I don't see being a problem. But if they win 6 games, Kelly won't have a bunch of Super Bowl rings to wag in kids faces like Charlie did when things were getting bad. So like I was saying we'll see if Kelly can recruit well enough to build at title team.

Bob Davie...I knew he wasn't the guy. Honestly, O-leary...I wasn't stoked...he seemed average to me...same thing with TW. Neither guy was outstanding in the jobs they already had. CW...I was excited because I knew we were going to put up numbers on O and I assumed that was enough...but I knew he wasn't a head coach, and the college game/players were an entirely different animal...but still, with Charlie, I knew he had achieved excellence somewhere...he wasn't average.

So, look at BK. He is a head coach...No question there. He has achieved outstanding results with his teams. His teams play with heart nd emotion. He is what I think we want...I still admit I wanted Stoops...but simply by comparison of those we've had...BK seems to be everything they were not...to break a bunch of logic rules and say the previous means we will win...I'm not there...I'm optimistic...but I'm not drinking the cool aid just yet...

I'm with you phgreek. I am not completely sold on winning a ship. I think he will have success like 10+ win seasons in the future. He did accomplish good things at Cincy but it was still the Big East, a pretty bad Big East I might add. I need to see it to believe it. We need to win the BIG games, not just win.

Two main reasons I'm confident about Kelly's ability to turn things around:

1) BK has 19 years of college head coaching experience.

2) In my lifetime, successful coaches at ND had extensive college head coaching experience before coming to ND (Holtz=16 years; Devine=16 years; Parseghian=13 years) while unsuccessful coaches have not (Weis=0; Willingham=7; Davie=0; Faust=0).

I believe him but the schedule starts getting tough in the next few years, I see them doing it but 'jezz' the schedule--it will take a few teams to be down a little that are normally strong--. It will be like '88 when the Irish beat about 7 top 20 teams. Jack knows what he's got in Kelly so I defer to Jack but man the schedule--------
