Charlie's play calling was so predictable. I remember standing in the stands, calling out every offensive play before it happened. You know you're bad at play calling if the fans know what play you're about to run.

When you have tall receivers at TE, WR, and now RB like ND does and has had, it's a crime not to throw fades. It's a bigger crime not to succeed.

The ND QBs should practice endzone fades on their time like basketball players shoot foul shots. It doesn't require a strong arm nor elusive feet. It takes a touch acquired through repetition. You don't need 22 players to practice it.

It would make Rees an endzone threat. It would make a Hendrix or Golson attack that much stronger. ND hasn't had a fade threat since Weis and Clausen left.

When executed properly, they are physically impossible (or as damn near as possible to impossible as one can get) to stop.

So Holtz was a criminal after 1993 (Aaron Taylor and company graduated)? Holtz saw the game changing and tried to change with it but lacked the talent and the coaching skills (him and staff). Even so, Paulus to Mayes, Brown, and Johnson in the corner was effective.

The option in the redzone acutally helps the defense as it takes away the passing threat allowing the secondary to pack the box and key on the run. Bettis tore up the Gator defense when they stacked the box in the Sugar Bowl. Most players today weren't born when The Bus wore Blue&God. Christianity has waited two thousand years for the Second Coming. ND fans have only waited two decades. I think we've got longer that that to wait. Meanwhile play to the strength. There's a big high advantage, use it.
