An as much as I hate any predictions or rankings at this point, I'm looking for a break from studying from finals, so I'll play along:

Based on my calculations, our defense averaged 12.5 points/game in this prediction. Which would put us in the top five probably. The D will be better...but not that much.

I like your Stanford game prediction. I think this will be a close one...especially if the Irish are indeed 10-1 heading into the game. I would go as far as to say the Blanton pick six would win it 24-21 a la Lambert vs. Michigan State in 2006.

Also the USC score with Walls scoring a TD seems to indicate that our offense struggled somewhat and only put up 17. Which I will assume means Clausen can't find a groove, and tosses a couple INTs to make Mark May happy.

That kind of a performance wouldn't surprise me. It will be a make it or break it game for Jimmy. Personally I think he will finally step up and we will finally beat SC, though I will admit your prediction is more likely.

If I had to, I'd say ND goes 10-2. The team is more mature, but not quite all the way there yet.

Youre on crack! Theres no way we are only giving up 17 points TOTAl between playing Michigan, Pitt and Boston College. Yep definately the preseason for you. Uh have you seen our defense.....anyway I'm gonna be a bit more realistic in my predictions. Also I'm not going to try to predict who's gonna be mvp.

Nevada= Win 34-23
Michigan=Win 27-24
Michigan State=Loss 32-31
Purdue=Win 20-17
Washington=Win 24-20
Usc=Loss 34-24
Boston College=Loss 31-30
Washington State=Win 45-13
Navy=Win 42-24
Pitt=Win 13-10
Uconn=Win 37-34
Stanford=Win 29-27

Record 9-3 and a Gator Bowl loss and Charlie Weis is fired after the bowl game.

Boston College=Loss 31-30

BC's only QB that's played in a Div 1 game was put on academic suspension so he quit school in a hissy fit.

Last month their key Defensive Player LB Herzlich was diagnosed with cancer.

You may want to rethink both sides of that score as you're being "a bit more realistic".

I didn't see any way we could have lost to Syracuse last year...
Or Navy the year before...
Or...

Syracuse yes.

With Navy we've been trying to find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for more than a decade.

'97 scored with less than 6 minutes left to win by 4
'99 scored with 36 seconds left to win by 4
'02 7 point win
'03 3 point win
'07 flirted one time too many

The talent level got closer
The coaching level got closer
ND actually began fearing Navy - losing the streak

Navy players imbued the slogan "Once more into the Breach!"

They wanted it more and they got it.

Remember the Million Dollar Tackle by Ivory Covington against Army? A Holtz team took the opposition lightly for almost 60 minutes 'til Ivory manned up and stopped the 245 pound TE cold. It never should have been that close.

If you didnt see us losing to Navy 2 years ago then you were blind. What were we going into that game, 1-7? I mean come on, if the streak was ever going to end, that was the year.

And there is also a BIG difference between not seeing a loss coming, and actually predicting it to happen.

I could see us losing to Pitt, Uconn, MSU or BC next year. But with what we have coming back and what those teams have coming back, I would NEVER predict it to happen.

There's a big difference between "If it was going to happen, that was the year" and "Wow, I didn't see that coming".

Sorry, even in our shittiest years, we should always have superior talent to Navy. They don't recruit blue chip players. They don't recruit players at all. I know the academines play tough, but I never envision a loss to the academies. When they happen, it blows, but I never see it coming, nor should I.

They say the best predictor of future performance is past results. I've seen what Charlie can (or rather, can't) do. I see 7-5 coming, thats all. You attack like you think I WANT that happen or something?!?! For the record, I don't, I'm just realistic about our situation. I hope Charlie proves me wrong and learns how to coach in the offseason, but I'm not going to put on the rose-colored glasses and act like some fantastic turnaround is likely.

Good post buddy, and I almost exactly agree with you, but I think the 1 more year of college football experience my ND pups have gained will make a huge difference. I'm hoping.

Been there, done that, it worked.

For the bowl game:

Win 51-49 over Florida. Montana is MVP after coming in with 2:03 on the clock, one time out, 2nd and 19 with the ball on his own 1, and down 49-45 in the 4th.

Crist will start the game after Jimmy is suspended when a picture is published showing him apparently doing a line of coke off of an underage girl's chest. A dazed Crist will leave the game with a head injury after being sacked to start the final drive. Montana will then lead the team 99 yards to score the winning TD as time expires.

Tebow will rush for 3 TDs. He will also be intercepted 4 times. Florida will have 456 yards of offense, 387 of which will be on the ground. But they will be undone by turnovers and penalties.

Allen will be a close second for MVP with both a punt and kick return. 28 of NDs points come from special teams and defense.

Awed by his older brother's re-0incarnation of their father's magic moments at Notre Dame, Nick texts Urban as the crowd storms the field, "I can't compete with "Comeback Nate" Shaking Down the Echoes. I'm decommitting from ND. You need me more! BTW, chix in pix w/jimmy. wasn't that Shelley? Shrewd move, coach!"

Im not saying you do it, but I do think there are ND fans that want them to fail, just so they can say, haha, I was right. Again not saying that was the point of your original post, but I have run into this alot
