I think Clausen is a bigger man than that, no need to resort to gang violence, he wasnt raised to be a thug.

This is possibly a fitting end to an absolutely horrible season and year for Notre Dame.

Clausen isn't necessarily a cocky sob. He's good and he knows he's good but he isn't as cocky as everyone thinks he is. He's actually a pretty nice guy. From what I heard, he was staying out of it until his brother got involved. That's when things escalated and got out of control. He was trying to defend and help his brother, not beat some random guy for name-calling

I'm skeptical. The SB Trib doesn't have anything on their Web site about this. Do you know how easy it is to confirm something like this? You go ask the cops if it happened, because if homeboy got punched in the face 2 times, someone called police.

John Walters has a rather odd report in which he quotes the bartender saying no fight occurred. He doesn't name the bartender. Even so, the barkeep might be lying, not wanting the cops to show up and ask questions.

All I can say is, if this is true, JC needs a better posse in the pros to keep his ass out of trouble. When he goes through 2007 all over again playing for some sorry-ass AFC team next year, he's going to suffer a lot of provocation.

One report says 2 black eyes, the other says 1. Which is it? These people are clueless.

devolg - I was a skeptical as you, but you can't expect the SBT to break news on its Web site. That thing is slower than Robert Hughes to break.

But seriously, there isn't a police report for every assault. At least not at the time it happens. I guarantee you if the SB police chief wants to keep his job, detectives will be at the bar tonight interviewing bartenders, managers, waitresses about the incident. The reason there is not a report right now is because no one called the cops and the victim (JC) didn't report it.

All these kids put themselves in compromising positions all the time you just rarely hear about it. They're kids enjoying their 1st years of freedom & they're only human. Shits gonna happen. I was in Nicks Patio a few years ago after a Saturday loss getting some early morning grub after some heavy drinking. Sitting at the table next to us was AJ Hawk & Girlfriend (Brady Quinns sister) About 15 minutes into my meal, in walks Brady Quinn so drunk off his ass he could hardly stand. He barely made it to his table & although he was very calm watching him eat was like watching a pig at a trough. Food was flying everywhere. At one point he got up to use the bathroom & hugged the wall the entire way there & back. Here was a completely different side of the person you see on TV who you assume to be mature & respectful & aware of the position he's in. (ND QB)

While this seemed very strange to me I realized that he was just being human. He had been out blowing off some steam after a loss just the same as I & because of that I chose to let him alone just as everybody in the restaurant did.

My point is they're kids & sometimes things will happen. College is for learning & these are life lessons they sometimes go through in that learning process.
