They're actually awesome owners? Who have built a dominant franchise in a small market?

As far as owners go, Jimmy is pretty much the opposite of a Dan Snyder or Jerra Jones. He's basically hands off on football decisions and let his front office and GM do their jobs, which IMO is the way a sports owner should be. His personal life is a well documented train wreck though. He's had problems for years, and I'm not surprised that this happened. I went to a game back in December and he was doing a thing at halftime for retired players. They showed him on the jumbotron down on the field and he looked like walking death even back then. I told the guy sitting behind me that he looked like he was dying of cancer or some terrible disease. He hasn't looked very good in the past year or so.

They might be terrible people but they're fantastic owners.

Don't know what their personal life troubles have to do with their job performance. They have done pretty damn well there.

They are no Dan Snyder, but heh… wait.. what were we talking about?

Agree.........Jim Irsay said a long time ago he didn't want to be remembered like his dad. He's went out of the way to be a great owner and corporate citizen. He donates to local charities and causes all the time. His personal troubles with alcohol and drugs are well documented. I suspect his divorce after 33 years was a result of him falling off the wagon and it just caught up with him publicly yesterday. I can't understand why a guy that is a billionaire wouldn't have a driver or just pay for a cab?

Interesting story......A couple years ago, I spoke to a guy that hosts a local sports talk radio show. He mentioned that back when Irsay was originally busted for drugs the NFL almost took the team away from him. He was allowed to keep the team under the stipulation that the NFL put someone in place to run the franchise. That person happened to be Bill Polian. I assume he was telling me the truth, but it would make some sense as to why Polian would leave the Panthers after just getting them to the Super Bowl.

He's neither a bad person or a bad owner. He's a great owner with addiction problems who fell off the wagon after having surgery.

His Dad left because Baltimore was going to steal his team. Every other owner would leave. Salty Baltimore fans are pathetic.

Most of my favorite musicians were pill heads who had problems with alcohol.

I feel bad for the guy and hope he gets help. He is a little bit annoying from a personality perspective, but I don't know how anyone could criticize the job he's done as an owner. Built a model franchise in the middle of nowhere.

Ha OK. Didn't mean it like that. Just saying that he and his family, for all their faults, have done a great job building the Colts into a top flight organization. Sorry, my east coast bias is showing....
