was it Mike Frank this week who had it sound like Seider had actually told MF before DMC left that he'd be interested in coming to ND if there was an open RB coach spot?
yeah idk if it was just mike but I have heard multiple beat people say that.

Would not surprise me in the least. These guys network like you would not believe.

Look at how Rees, Parker, Golden, Mason, O'Leary and DMC were able to accelerate their careers as assistants under Freeman. You can't tell me these guys see that and the culture he's building from afar and don't have interest.

The dudes in this profession are always looking for the next thing, the next step. Seider left what was going to be a pretty stacked PSU RB room to come to Notre Dame and may well have planted that seed well before the 2024 season began.

Yeah and he said Mickens is getting the same treatment on the trails as DMC was getting last year. Other schools are telling the kids that he will be gone and won't be the one coaching them. Also said MF has networked quite well, top assistants very much want to coach under him, and that he will have Seider esque replacements for when coaches such as Mickens do eventually move on.

What Denbrock did at LSU with Daniels was impressive, what Seider did with Singleton at Penn St. & the 2 RB's last year was impressive, to have them both on ND's offensive staff & see what they can do together could be dangerous. I have a friend who is a Miami fan who told me about their defense that Love will have a field day with.

Yeah I think in game one you don’t get cute we could probally hand it off 20-25 times to Love and he’s gonna kill them all day

If his is true, that's really saying something considering how the trend has been going in the opposite direction with NIL and The Portal.

The turnabout there is that should Seider succeed at ND, and he's likely going to when all is said and done, the NFL is still going to be there.

He worked some magic with Price. Massive leap.

I agree. I missed most of the first half and part of the A&M game due to kids' sports, but from what I've seen he's not dancing around as much and he's being more patient trying to find the hole. He's making more plays as a result. He just needs to hone his blocking and receiving skills and he can be a complete back at the next level. Obviously it was Purdue and Love had a career day too, but Price had 3 TDs on offense, and the big kick return TD which thankfully the refs picked the flag up on.

Not a huge fan of the rotation. He better keep recruiting well because only playing two backs will probably lead to some transfers.
You think RB3 being done for the year might have something to do with that?

Where is Denbrock in that as well? Price's first carry has been coming a bit late in games. I think he didn't have a carry against Boise until the second half.

It's hard for anyone to get meaningful carries from those guys and most of the games so far have been tight in the first half.

I am surprised at the rotation this year. Based upon the fact that Love was injured last year in the playoffs, I assumed that they would spread the carries around to improve the chances that they would be healthy for the playoff run.

I do wish Price would get more touches and I would love to see some two back sets. Especially this Saturday where I think we're going to have to lean on the ground game to churn yards if the weather goes south.

Ultimately on Denbrock, not Seider right?

There has to be a reason these guys are not playing. They also have the ability to sling it 30 times a game and have a more balance offense because of the QB and WR personnel compared to last year.

Honestly I’m not sure who sets the RB rotation, I feel like Seider has bigger hand in that because it’s changed from last year.

The lack of 2 back sets is probably on Denbrock though.

Who runs these anymore outside of a handful in the NFL?

ND ran it vs OSU in Love’s freshman season and it was a nice wrinkle. Doesn’t mean it translates to tomorrow. That said, ND seems to struggle on obvious run downs regardless of opponent (sans Arkansas). Maybe a 2 back set adds some misdirection for ND which in turn leads to some hesitation on the part of SC’s defense. All Love or Price needs is a slight crease but they can only do so much if the OL can’t hold the point of attack.

That’s my understanding based on reports from the beat writers. Seider made no mistake that he rotates two RB and that’s it. DMc had a different philosophy and it worked for ND’s offense. As great as Price & Love are, it’s hard to imagine that Williams doesn’t at least get a few plays especially in light of their short yardage struggles.

Biggest improvement I’ve seen from the backs this year is the pass blocking from Love and Price. They’ve been money

Eh...I dunno about that. Love's blocking has always been generally good, Price still has some room to grow. One of the talking heads just did something on the RB blocking being unsatisfactory against NC State actually, I'd have to find it. Price missed a big block against Boise too, a blitzing LB that came right up the middle. That said, I do think Price is improved from last year for sure.
