After another weekend meltdown at a major, is it safe to say that Eldrick will not win another major? If not why can't he do it anymore, even after holding leads going into the weekend? Has the torch officially been passed to the next generation to produce the next dominant player? Your thoughts?

No he's not done but it won't be as easy. Lot of talent out there but he'll get more. How many others have put themselves in position in the majors this year. No one.

Don't know if he'll get to 19, but he will win more.

it just seems like he goes through funks where he loses a lot of confidence. It also appears to me that when everyone is moving up the leaderboard on Saturday and Sunday, he is going backwards.

8 top 10 finishes and 3 wins this year with 1 withdrawl and missed cut. Thats not too bad. He is also Ryder's cup points leader this year. I can attest that the Ocean Course is a tough course. You can't truly appreciate how difficult it is till you are out there hitting into blind fairways with waste areas everywhere and a 12-20 mph cross wind.

Woods did let the course beat him this weekend though. I think he still has several majors he could get.

McIlroy killed it and made it look easy but that is not the norm. The average score for that course is in the high 70s for pros.

I agree he is having a very good year for a PGA player, but my point of contention is the majors in particular. I can't put my finger on it, but there's just some hump he can't get over in his mind or with his confidence when he has a bad hole or two. I thought he would have put his family situation behind him by now, so I don't think that is it. I think he is still not where he wants to be mechanically with his game. He tries to make too many adjustments and tries to be too "cute" with all the little tweeks IMO.

Golf is no longer a game of out of shape old guys that Tiger can just run rampant over.

He will win more certainly.

Don't see it. While at the time, when he was winning, he was the greatest golfer I'd ever seen...he's no where close to that anymore.

Playing well on the tour? Yeah....but he's been off when it counts...the majors in the final couple days. The red shirt doesn't scare anyone anymore. And let us not forget...Tiger has NEVER comeback from being down to win a major. He's always been the one ahead of the pack. So as the game catches him, he's never shown the ability to comeback, why expect it now?

And yes, the game is getting younger (the Tiger impact is starting to actually catch Tiger). There are players that can hit the ball further and can maintain stamina to compete through 72 holes with him.

Rory would top that list had he played as many events....

And Tiger will ALWAYS be in the money hunt. Guy is a great golfer...but it's the major chase that we're concered with. And I don't think he catches Jack.

I think he will win a few more. He always puts together at least 1 complete round a year.

That hump you are talking about is his swing. After he left Haney, he hasn't had the same swing in consecutive tournaments. He keeps fiddling with it and has yet to be comfortable with his form. I think he'll work on it over the off season and come back next year and win at least 2 majors.

Tiger is done, at least as far as being the Tiger that everyone knew. He is gone, and wont be back until he does the things he did before 2009 /ahem.

Pre-2009 Tiger, had a shot at winning 25+ majors....2012 Tiger will be lucky to win 2 more majors for the rest of his career.

He had a skyrocketing career, that was derailed rather suddenly...kinda like Ken Griffey, JR /ahem

Some of these comments sound more personal than subjective.

He's not as dominating as he once was, but he's still one of the top 5 golfers in the world.

Nobody in the world has a better chance at winning majors.

Ummm...He hasn't won a major in 4 years. Nothing "personal" about that.

And It's not that I have anything personal against the guy, hell, it's his marriage that he screwed up, it's that I really don't think he's gonna be the threat that he once was.

The question isn't if he's still a great golfer....but if he's done winning majors. (especially at the clip that he once did).

I would agree...but it seems to be a pattern. 4 years worth of pattern.

That's what drives me the other way.

He wont be the golfer that he was 10 years ago, but I dont think anyone in the history of the game was close to that good, except for Jack at his best. Tiger still has the game to win a couple more Majors, and I think he will. He'll likely get back to #1 in the World Golf Rankings also. Dont know that he will get to #19 in the Majors. But it will be fun to watch for the next decade as he tries. And no matter how much the press tries to show love for Lefty, Rory, and anyone else in the game, no one moves the needle like Tiger. Golf can survive without Tiger, but without him it wont flourish like it has for the last 15 years. No one will have the following of Tiger, and no one will have the impact Tiger has had on the game.
