Is the Big 10 back as one of the top conferences? With BCS wins from Ohio State and Iowa, they are beginning to make a case. What does everyone else think?

the ACC sucks and Ohio St had a great gamplan for Oregon, i believe they held the ball for close to 40 minutes. They may be better but i wouldnt say they are back. LSU sucks so that game doesnt count

Yeah I don't think they are back either, I just wanted to see other's opinions. It is a down year for the ACC and Pac-10. I still think Oregon will be scary good next year though, they have a lot coming back. I think the only reason LSU was ranked as highly as they were, was because of that SEC biased bs.

Yes, definitely coming back. Not all the way, but getting there... They are 4-3 in bowls, and there are some lacking teams. But let's not forget, Wisco had a real nice win over the U as well. I would say Big Ten "D" is back. They have effectively destroyed three of the more potent offenses in the NCAA - Oregon, Miami, and GT. Two spreads and a triple option.

Good point, near the top they are getting better and defensively as you pointed out as well...but is the conference as a whole (from bottom on up) one of the best? That is where I see the Big 10 lacking.

College football in general was kind of weak this year.* The SEC wasn't exactly a deep conference, and the big 12 was also very top-heavy. Bottom line, there were a few top teams, some good mid-majors, and a lot of weak overall conferences. Considering the landscape, its tough to say the Big Ten doesn't look relatively good this year.

*chuckles at everyone trying to downplay the Big 10's bowl success this year*

I'm not saying that the Big 10 is "back", but you cannot discount that they had a great bowl season, this year. The record might only have been 4-3, but those four wins were over Oregon (BCS #7), Georgia Tech (BCS #9), LSU (BCS #12), and Miami (BCS #15). All four Top 15 teams. The worst of their 3 losses was MSU losing to Texas Tech by 10. Minnesota lost to Iowa State by 1, and Northwestern took Auburn to OT before losing by 3 points. That's a very successful bowl season for the Conference. It doesn't mean that they are in the same league as the SEC, but let's give them the credit they have earned.

Big 10 had a good bowl season. They got some favorable match ups and took advantage of the opportunities. Ohio State shot down the hyped up ducks and their bad D. Iowa added to the now putrid ACC's BCS record (2-10)

I think one could make a case for the Big 10 being the second best conference.

What favorable match ups would those be?

The #1 Big 10 team (Ohio St.) beat the #1 Pac 10 team (Oregon).

The #2 Big 10 team (Iowa) beat the #1 ACC team (GT).

The #3 Big 10 team (Penn St.) beat the #3 SEC team (LSU).

The #4 Big 10 team (Wisconsin) beat the #2 ACC team (Miami, FL).

They are coming back imo...

But it doesn't look like any conference will be catching the SEC.
Especially the PAC10.. Due to the fall of Troy.

No.... they are not. The BIG12 and SEC are still the top conferences in the country. One conference that is back on the rise is the ACC.

If the Big Ten wants to add another team, they should add Boise State. Geographically it makes no sense, but it would make my day to see THEEEEEEEEEEEEEE OSU, UM, and PennSt get the crap stomped out of them year in and year out. And then Boise would actually have a NC shot.

Boise called OSU to play them at OSU..... they declined, and instead decided to continue to battle the likes of Navy and Toledo for their nonconference games.

The BIG wins for theeee Big10 were against a down year for top ACC and PAC10 teams, and an overrated LSU team, who should have been beat by the likes of Louisiana Tech and Washington.

And here we go again; people trying to convince us that the Buckeyes will schedule Texas, USC, and Miami, but are afraid to play Boise State. There could be many reasons why any big time team might decline a contract to play Boise State. It might be financial, it might be that BSU is demanding a game on a specific date, or in a specific month, that the big time team already has booked, or it could be that some of the weaker BCS conference teams don't think that they can beat Boise. But it stands to reason that Ohio State is not afraid to play the Broncos. If they were, how would the previously mentioned schools ever get on the Buckeyes' schedule?

As long as a conference unseats the SEC, I could care less who is the best conference.

I personally lean to the independent conference...

I am still bitter towards the LSU sugar bowl match up we got slaughtered in.

Their four wins were all upsets against favored teams, all against top 15 teams, two conference champions. A much better showing than the past several years. But one year does not a comeback make.
