I am thinking about trading in my Taylormade Burner Plus irons for a nice set of Mizunos.

Anyone have a set?

Opinions?

Adams Idea Tech V4 Irons - Golf Magazine ClubTest 2013, Game-Improvement Irons, best golf irons - Photos - GOLF.com

I got conned into buying some POS Wilsons when I was 21 -- I didn't know anything about Irons but I knew Wilsons weren't the first to come to mind when it came to golf but he talked me into them being awesome so I bit. I was hoping to get rid of them this year and put a nice investment in my "golf portfolio" but the future baby is postponing that...guess that's a fair excuse.

I still don't know much about irons but i hope the link gives you some info...Mizuno is one of the Tops according to it.

TT, do you have the ability to test drive at a club? I currently have Titleist 775 CB's from like 2003 and am looking at new irons myself. My club pro wants me to hit the new Taylor Made irons along with some of the Ping models. I know Cleveland makes a nice set as well. I like the look of higher performance irons, the clean lines, and hope to find a cavity back set with similar features.

I have Mixuno JPX-800's. I like them - they are a bit less forgiving then say...TM CB forged- but they play pretty well. Personally I'd probably buy a set of those CBs before another set of the JPX. However, I do like some of the mizuno mp line.

I've heard great things from a buddy who played DI golf about TaylorMade RocketBladez. I will be testing an older set this weekend, actually. I hear they are long and forgiving so I'm not sure what else you could ask for as an amateur golfer.

I just bought myself some Taylor Made Burner 2.0 irons and hybrids. I like them a lot, they're pretty forgiving. Lord knows I need forgiveness when I golf.

i have mizuno mx-23's. The best feeling irons i have ever hit, when i hit them.

They are a forged cavity back, and man they are sweet, but your contact better be center. but like i said when you flush it, the ball flies and its a beautiful thing.

My clubs could probably qualify as antiques. My drivers are actually wood.

About 2 months ago, I got fitted and purchased the Mizuno MP-64s and T-4 wedges (50, 54, 58) and absolutley love them. I was in between the 64s and the JPX-800 Pros. Some people said I may regress switching from a cavity back to more of muscle back/blade but I feel like I've gotten alot better with them. Handicap has dropped a stroke so far and I've tied my lowest round ever and sprinkled in few other good rounds.

When you pure them, it feels so solid and the ball jumps. Feel like Ive picked up about 8-12yards---which may also be an effect of getting the shafts matched to my swing speed. My 3 Iron can get real risky on mis-hits but I'm working on that. Shots off the toe go about 15-20 yards shorter but that was expected due to a more compact sweet spot.

My advice--if you are going to pay more money for Mizuno's make sure you get fitted by someone who knows what the hell they are talking about. Have them pop shafts in and out--and if you can, get fitted by a pro at an actual driving range or country club. You and the pro can see your shot shape vs what you see on a screen at Dicks, GG, or Golfsmith to determine which club and shaft is best for you.

I will be test driving the clubs over the next two weeks, so I appreciate all of your help/insight.

Can someone please let me know what the difference between the cavity backs / full irons?

My TM's are cavity backs, but I don't like the way the ball strike feels with them.

Just want to know what to expect going into a fitting

I have Nike SQ Machspeed irons I got 3 years ago. I love them, but I have not been impressed by Nike's last few releases with clubs. They are super forgiving and I love the PowerBow in the back to help. I have heard plenty positives about the RBZs.
