Irish Envy ND Game-Watch Section

Hello everyone. I'm not sure where to post this exactly, but hopefully, you will find it a worthy discussion as we anticipate the kickoff to one of our favorite classic rivalry games of the season.

With great consistency, Irish Envy has been an excellent source on the internet for finding relevant and important information regarding Notre Dame football. Many of the posters are insightful, enthusiastic, and welcoming. It's the reason why I post on occasion and tend to look here for timely information on recruiting.

With that said, it's pretty clear that many of us (fans, students, faculty, alumni, etc.) are connecting from different places throughout the United States (the world, for that matter). It's a quality that makes the University of Notre Dame a unique place to be part of and to support. Nevertheless, it would be incredible if we could connect our fanbase even more than it already is.

While most of us already have our own Gameday groups, many of us ND fans are like wandering nomads, roaming throughout the city in search of a good place to watch the game, and more importantly, a good group of fans who share the same loyalty.

Rather than watch solo or plead with a disinterested bar tender to flip to the ND ESPN game, it would be great to find better ways of linking up with groups and possibly supporting local businesses. For example, as funny as this sounds, I tend to look for the Irish Pubs in cities that I travel to and/or move to, because at least the image is there and the short-sell easier in a territory that doesn't really support the ND market.

My main question: Has Irish Envy discussed the possible development of a Game-Watch section/page devoted entirely to organizing groups and highlighting businesses that support ND football? This information is scattered throughout the internet and is often spread word of mouth, but to organize State pages with this information could make it much easier to access and share.

Anyway, these are my basic thoughts. Hopefully, you will want to discuss. Thanks for reading!

I think this is a great idea. I'm transferring from Portland, OR, to Columbus, OH, next month. I'd be interested in finding out if there are any ND friendly places to watch the game there.

Step one would be to find out just how many Alumni Associations organize "game watches." There are many, perhaps one near you. All are welcome. Trolls travel at their own risk.

My local association (in Minneapolis) has a rabid and dedicated group of younger (much younger than I) alums who make arrangements with a local bar/pub to host a "watchin' o' the game."

Perhaps some driven and computer and internet savvy (not me) individual could undertake a project to contact all existing alumni associations, post information on gathering spots on game days and do what can be done to keep the information up to date.

A "sticky" link to a reference file might even be possible.

Just a thought. Happy hunting, Pachuco.

I've posted the link to ND Clubs more than a dozen times in response to people looking for gamewatchs. If there is no local ND Club in that town the local contact person can usually give you a place or somebody to contact. You don't to be be an ND alumnus to join an ND Club nor to attend a gamewatch.

Google ND Club or ND Alumni Club.

Hello everyone. I'm not sure where to post this exactly, but hopefully, ...

There's an existing thread for it albeit empty (perhaps because it's in the Leprechaun Lounge and not ND Football). The original Administrator opened it. Over the years there have been many posts with locations but either none were ever put here or they got tossed during some distant spring cleaning.

I'd say theres probably about as much chance of finding that, as finding a Ohio State friendly bar in South Bend. : )

In the news recently, Did you hear about the family that moved from Iraq to Ohio?..........They moved back.

(It was really Detroit, but I changed the place to make it more relevant : )

This is a really good idea. I generally just like to watch the games at home. I know a few bars in my area are actually Irish bars. I still would rather stay home and save money. I can do whatever I want and yell whatever I want here.

Ohio? God bless you, my man..

*shrugs*

I want to spend some time with my neices and nephews, before they all graduate high school/college and start scattering to the winds.

I grew up in Canton, OH, so Columbus is actually conveniently close, yet not too close, to most of my family.

The cost of living in Columbus is decidedly lower than in Portland, so I come out a little bit ahead, in that sense.

Thanks for the responses so far . . .

Thanks for the responses so far . . .

I'm new to Salt Lake City, and between Utah and BYU fans, I am trapped in a no ND fan's land . . . or at least, I haven't found them yet!

The Notre Dame Club of Utah is pretty legit on FB, but it seems like only a few moderators are running the show.

I've been all over the States, and every time I go someplace new I feel like some crazed addict, a sad junkie that has to disappear every Saturday to get a hit of ND football, haha.

Kids, I don't do drugs, but it would be nice to share my bad habits with people who get it.

And I know I am not alone . . .

So I know posting a few links is cool, but maybe we can organize it a little better outside of just links to the Alumni clubs.

I guess I need to really turn this city over and if it's not here, then I need to create it. :)

I promise to share my results.

If you want to be in charge of it, I'd say just have people PM you the name of the bar and address and then you add it to the original post of this thread as they come in. If you get one at a time or whatever, it should be fairly simple to organize. If you don't want to put up with it, I would be happy to help keep it updated.

If there is any in Houston I'd be down. Got to be some die hards in the 4th largest metro area (although lags behind Phil, Cin and Cleveland in terms of fandom). Never had a "blind party" like this before...

Are we ever going to have an Irish envy reunion?

I'm from the Fort Wayne area.

However, my current residency = West Lafayette.

Sorry to hear that lol jk...but seriously. I would be down to get together with some other fans than my usual friends. I go to school In North Manny but I would be willing to chill at a good ND bar in the fort.
