I know I shouldnt keep kicking this dead horse, and I know what im going to say will not be popular.

First, I watch football games from the perspective of an ex-player, its just how im wired.

But when Dayne was out during the Michigan game and NBC kept showing him on the sidelines, I kept saying 'WTF?" ..there was something about the way he was standing there, with his helmet strap on, he didnt look like he had to get back into the game, I didnt see any urgency. Then when Montana and Rees came in and stunk it up, they would show Dayne on the sidelines with no reaction. Maybe im old skool (not maybe, i am) but at that point if I could throw a ball, run and talk; I would have said anything and everything to the coaches to get back on the field. I think most ppl that have played sports would say the same thing in order to get back onto the field(Dayne even at 40% would have been better than Rees/Montana). From my opinion, I couldnt understand why Dayne, at least from outside appearances, seemed to be content to stay on the sidelines when the QB's were in the middle of an epic meltdown. My thought was, if he was too injured to be in the game, he should have been sitting on the bench.

As I said, I'm old skool..."as long as the bone isnt sticking out, and you can walk, your good to go." But I also recoqnize that nowadays injuries are handled drastically different. I think this is why I feel the way I do about the michigan game, I think being old skool is what shapes my opinion

My buddies and I were going absolutely nuts watching that. BGIF said earlier that he was moderating during that game (huge props for having to deal with that clusterf*ck), and people were posting what my buddies and I were screaming (and the resulting explanation from NBC made us all look like idiots for screaming at BK, and why you should never emote publicly on a website during games, but I digress). Dayne looked soft as could be at the moment. Someone dropped the ball there in letting him languish on the sidelines. He should've been in the locker room getting treatment, resting his eyes, whatever, but it looked bad to have him out there while some of his teammates (who clearly did not know what was up) questioned his toughness. Dude couldn't see...get him in the locker room.

That's just a perception thing, I know, but still, it goes a long way. I'm definitely worried about Crist. Love the guy, he's as good as a representative of Notre Dame as you will ever find; I just hope he has the intestinal fortitude to take this team (and a game) by the gnads and not let them lose. I'm rooting for him big time - he has all the physical tools to succeed...

First post on the site, but I've been a ND fan forever. Like many of you, I've always been "that kid" who loved Notre Dame football. I guess what attracted me was the "Fighting Irish," but what kept me were the tradition, integrity, and those sweet, sweet helmets. I'll be the first in my family to attend a university, and I'm looking forward to four years under The Dome. Hopefully, I'll see a NC during those four years.

Anyway, Who do you think will start for us next year? Crist has some eligibility left, but Hendrix seems to be the way of the future. Also, are Rees's days as a starter over?

You're the first in your family to attend a university and you're going to ND? That's a hell of an accomplishment. Congratz. And welcome aboard.

And as I've said before, I like Golson as the future, but he should redshirt this year. I think Crist will start this year, Hendrix will have special packages, and Rees will be a talented back up.

Thanks Beau, means alot. I'm glad to be here.

Next Spring, will we be talking about the 3-way QB competition between Rees/Hendrix/Golson? Or will one of them have it locked down before then thanks to either a) a crist injury b) BK's decision to have "his" kind of QB rather than a hold over from Charlie.

Next spring (with no offense to Rees) I think it will be a tough competition between Golson and Hendrix.

I'm on team Crist. I was convinced last year Hendrix was better than Rees but I think Golson and Crist would be a scary thing for opposing teams to handle.
