Don't know how much interest this will draw but I enjoy watching the race every year!

I've been very lucky to attend just about every major sporting event, the Indy 500 was the greatest single event I have been to. Granted it was years ago when the Andrettis, AJ, and the household names were dueling it out. Incredible rush and excitement, saw Mears win his 4th. In the day I think this was Americas biggest single day spectacle. Still watch every minute.

Miss the 500. Haven't been since I moved to ATL. Went to the Aldean concert the day before the race in the infield, but had to get back tot ATL. Hoping to give it a go next year.

It's sort of a right of passage if you live in Indy. Anyone who hasn't experienced it, needs to.

Granted, it's not the same at it was. The Snake Pit, etc for example. But even though the names are different and the old guys have retired, the current line up is loaded with modern era racing studs. Living in Indy during the month of May (even if you're not a race fan) can provide some of the funnest times ever. It's not just race day. It's the whole freaking month!

The Snake Pit heydays were also my heydays. Pretty much anything and everything you can imagine was going on. I can't imagine how many sofas had to be hauled away over the years.

One year we had a parachute, sat in a cardboard box and let the wind take us for a ride across the grass. You started hauling after a few feet. Guards caught onto us and shut us down. lol

For anyone who has never been, it is still the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing". Crowds are down some, but still the single biggest sporting event. It's worth a trip just to see the facility which you can visit anytime.

Grew up on AJ Foyt.

I remember every year hearing those three phrases that were a tradition at the track...

1) Gentlemen, start your engines
2) Danny Ongias hits the wall
and who could ever forget
3) and Mario is slowing down

Haven't honestly paid much attention lately though, at least not after Dan Wheldon's accident. I had missed following the race a couple years but then, in a radio contest, was given Wheldon as my random pick from a hat and he won! Was sorry to see him go.

Who is singing this year now that Gomer stepped down?

There is some serious $$ to be made with those odds! I bet on a few, but thinking Kanaan this year. He's been top 3 in speed most every practice.

Montoya ran a fantastic race. Thought Power would keep the lead. Montoya did a great job fending off Dixon as well. Incredible finish.

What a joke of a comment. Hasn't he promised this speed up offense for 5 years now? I would just like the first play of the game to not be a penalty for play clock running out.

This would certainly save wear and tear on my vocal chords ... and to my liver, to an extent.

Actually, I don't think BK has ever promised a fast paced offense at ND. People keep HOPING it'll turn into a Cinci offense, but I don't think BK has ever said that was his intention. I know reporters asked about it in the past, and he made a comment that it's a very different circumstance. In 2012 specifically he said the job at Cinci was to put butts in the seats. The job at ND requires you to win big games so they've tried to focus on better defense. I think we're getting there, this is one of the most talented teams we've had for a long time, and we've got some quality depth. We just have to stay healthy and execute, we'll be fine.

Love the 500. Started going in high school, stayed with it while at college in Bloomington. Probably been 15 times, but since mid 90s. Actually worked with CART for 8 seasons doing races in US and Canada, but never worked Indy. For my work, we actually laser scanned the track for a video game, which was cool. Did the same for Talladega track for a complete repavement project.
