It has, not gonna deny that....but our friend says it doesn't matter anymore. I for one have renewed my love for indycar racing the last few years. Fucking morons in F1 thought they could compete in the states for viewership that they switched out Monoco for Canada.

The guy boasting about one in a thousand being at Indy?

for perspective, if your town had 20,000 people, that mean only 20 would show up for your event.

Not so impressive now, is it?

It was like one in 600 when I went to the Time Trials; which quite often drew 200,000 or so on the first day.

The largest estimated crowd for Indy 500 qualifying appears to have been on Pole Day in 1956, when reports estimated about 125,000 spectators at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

For practice days, there does not appear to be an official all-time attendance record published by IMS.

Well, whoever said that was full of crap. The only worthwhile source is likely the Indianapolis paper
I can remember several times when the whole main grandstand was packed; and all the way to the turns.
AND the infield was pretty full as well.
