Not really evidence that the Dems have drifted so far "left", I would say more evidence of the ongoing realignment of populist economic policies to the Republicans and corporatist economic policies to the Democrats. The Democrats now have a more traditionally conservative "free trade" approach and the Republicans a more traditionally liberal/leftist point of view.
