You can be upset, but no one can be too mad at the the way that game played out. Michigan didn't beat Notre Dame today, they beat our scout team.

With Crist in the game we outgained them by a mile on offense and shut the down on defense. It was a 24-7 game on the drives Crist was in the game and the responding drives from Michigan. Just think about that. Michigan gained probably close to 3/4 of their yards in the first half.

It's ok to be hurting, I am. But this loss doesn't hurt like losses under Weis did. It's a different feeling. I feel like this loss only makes us stronger and these guys are going to play with fire coming out of this game like nothing we've seen since Holtz.

This is a different team.

Last year, this was over at the half. This year, it wasn't over until the clock said 00:00.

The difference this year is that the coach didn't cause the loss.

well said. For a rebulding year...or so called...we are in good shape.

The only way this is a "rebuilding" year is if the NFL is still in lockout-threat mode by draft time. Otherwise, we are in serious risk of not coming back with Floyd, Crist and Rudolph.

Crist is a junior, right? I don't think he is NFL ready.

Floyd looks a little out of sorts. Remember how Jimmy dropped in the draft? When was Tate taken? Maybe its not for certain Floyd is gone.

Not unless he rolls up 400 yards a game with 4 TDs. Rudolph would be dumb not to, and Floyd is catching the Kumara-itis.

I couldnt have put this better myself, its a loss, a tough loss, but its good for us to face adversity, and we proved alot, for example, i now firmly believe we are CAPABLE of winning every single game, we WONT but the desire and the skill is there. This is still and 8-4 football team.

I really think Kelly will put a different outlook in the minds of the present players as opposed to other players that have left early in the past 6 to 7 years. As opposed to those past 6 or 7 years, there looks to be a solid coach that can actually put ND in the position to compete. CW's years in the BCS were players of another recruiting class and after looking back on CW's coaching years, he was looking for quick fixes and not the long-term as Kelly is. The NFL lock-out will play a major role though.

I know it's gone but, imagine right now if we had Clausen and Tate???

Yeah...in all honesty, as heart breaking as it is and the grief still too near, this game was pretty encouraging. A huge improvement from last year, a fantastic show from the Defense. Crist is obviously the huge part of ND that is the dettermining factor...I guess thats the worst part of it.
If we lose him...we're done. And thats terrifing.
But overall, as a team, we're in great shape and can only go up from here. We'll won't see another QB like that all year so it should be easier!

I'm actually not very dissapointed by this loss. We showed a lot of promise, and probably would've won if it wasn't for Crist being hurt. This is a team that will fight for all four quarters, and is conditioned very well. Also, this is one of the best Irish defenses that I've seen in a long time. Michigan had plenty of opportunities to put it away, but we didn't let them.

Usually when Notre Dame loses it ruins my day, but I feel alright after this one.

I agree. If Crist stayed in the whole game, no way we lose that. We rolled it right down their throat on the opening possession and every time Crist was in there we were solid on offense. Just back luck he went out, and we still only lost by 4. Hey, at least we weren't VT and they weren't JMU.

He hasn't impressed so far. It looks Kelly knew what he was talking about when he said Floyd was overhyped.

After he said that, he said Floyd was the real deal and the hardest worker on the team. He just hasn't clicked with Crist and the new offense yet.

Why would Floyd go pro? He's been terrible this season.

Have you guys watched the games? While not necessarily producing with receptions, he has been arguably the most consistent blocker on this team....BAR NONE. He's been putting his man on his ass on a consistent basis, springing the the back in most cases. Boys, know what you're talking about before you spout off.

Floyd is awesome on the deep ball. He can't do much about it when Crist launches it 15 yards past him every time he goes deep. Crist's deep ball up on the sidelines is greatly lacking touch right now. He throws everything as hard as he possibly can, which is great over the middle and on short routes, but sometimes you have to put it up with more touch to let your superior athlete make a play. We have been a bit spoiled because Clausen was absolutely spectacular in this aspect of the game.

And that hold called on Floyd was absolute crap. Yes he had a handful of jersey, but when your hands are within the shoulders, it's generally not called. It's one of those things that are rules but not enforced and blocking is actually taught this way. Also, the ref that threw the flag was behind the defender. How can he see a hold unless Floyd puts his arm around the defender? His blocking is just awesome and shows he's a good all-around player and not a Randy Moss primadonna.

I think the defense got lit up today. They did well, but Robinson still put on a one man show and got the job done when he had to. Still, like most of you have posted, the loss wasn't as hard to handle as in the past. For the 1/2 that Crist was in the team looked like a winning team. And, so far I'm impressed that we can run the ball.

Crist in the entire game = a win. Even using the second and third string QBs, the game was within reach. A few bad miscues that cost hurt, but the momentum is there to build on.

I stand by what I said. Floyd doesn't feel totally comfortable with the new offense (though, as you said) he is blocking like a stud. Crist doesn't have Clausen's accuracy on the deep ball, and it is affecting Floyd's productivity. Don't call me out bro, I'll bring down the pain. Or something.

Agreed x 10....I said the exact same thing. That holding was nonsense.

hahaha....I wasn't calling you out, nutley.... It was just an example.

You're correct in stating that Crist is inaccurate, but in my opinion, only when inside the redzone. He doesn't have the touch that Clausen or even Quinn had....It's not even close.

Big Ten refs have no incentive to help ND. There has to be a bias to some degree. Sad but true.

Very true brah....very true... We had a party of 10 here today, every one of us rewatched the same play multiple times and still never saw a hold. I'm sick of ND getting stuck by bias. ugh..... ;)
