Keep in mind that people can be critical of specific things, and still believe in the guy. I, for one, am on record as believing that he has made a bad choice, in each of the last two games (not kicking the FG against Mich, and going for it on 4th down, against MSU). But I still believe that he is the right guy for the job, and I have no doubt that he will, at the very least, fix the fundamentals issues that we have seen recently. But believing in him doesn't mean that I have to believe everything that he does is beyond reproach.

Having said that, anyone calling for his head is just plain crazy!

If you have come to the conclusion after 2 whole posts that IE is not the right ND site to post on then there are many other options for you to explore. A bit of advice though, don't go looking for unemotional responses after the second straight heartbreaking loss.

I love that BK is our head coach and wouldn't trade him for any other coach in the country. However, your comment that "anyone who is critical of him is a moron" is a bit uncalled for. I have been critical of one or two things, am I a moron?
It is possible to completely support someone 100% and be somewhat critical at times. I do however agree with you that many on here(and almost every other ND site) are being unrealistic with their expectations.

I think there is a pretty good mix of opinions right now, all of which have substance. The problem is that people are getting too hot about their opinions and acting a bit foolishly towards their counterparts. The losses have unwound some people, but most will be grounded again shortly, if they aren't already. It's the passion that gets to every one of us. We are just looking for answers in different directions, but ultimately, come Saturday, we'll all be cheering for the Irish.

I have personal ties to Manti. This is why you will see me defend him when I think he is being judged unfairly especially like this season. When Manti chose ND this is the first forum that came up when I googled. I read the other boards too but this is the only board I felt I wanted to post in. Every board has the same irrational, emotional posting after a loss. Die hard fans so consumed in their anguish that they target anyone and everyone to blame for why the team "sucks." The sad thing is that we forget that these are sons, grandsons and nephews.

I felt very very bad for Zeke Motta these last two games. You can see the kid giving it his last ounce just to pick himself up off the ground on Saturday. Yet on numerous boards I see "fans" literally ****ting on the kid for his bad angles and missed tackling. Carlo fans sound extremely familiar to last year's Manti fans. They overlooked Manti's mistakes and praised him for being ferocious and the second coming. Now Carlo is that player but no mention of his mistakes or that he always seems to play the side with little space. Pretty familiar and predictable if you ask me. Personally I think all the players are great but I cannot see what the coaches see to keep ones like Filer off the field.

No one here is a moron but everyone here is a fan! Just remember to have patience and tolerance as some fans are more passionate and critical than others. Nothing wrong with that but if we are adults we should all sure act like it...myself included

Lou went 5-6 while Weis racked up 9 wins from a team that suppose to win 5 games that year. I don't see your point in this question at all because clearly Kelly isn't going exceed or even get close to Weis' first year..

I know that many might disagree, but I think Weis inherited a team from a coach (Willingham) who was not the best recruiter, but was a better teacher of fundamentals than Weis. Weis was an awesome recruiter, but not a great developer of his college players. That's why despite his great recruiting, his teams did worse after the players he inherited from Willingham graduated.

Kelly has inherited Weis' talented players, but they also lack a solid foundation in fundamentals and solid development. Kelly has been and is addressing this, and I see marked improvement in this area compared to last year.

Kelly is absolutely the right person for Notre Dame football.

Like he said in the post-game press onference after the MSU loss, we have to continue working on all the little things, for example, the little things that keep a drive alive. Things like securing the football, running a long enough short route to ensure a catch will be enough for a first down.

It takes time for a team to grow and develop under a completely new offensive and defensive system, especially when the team doesn't have a strong enough initial foundation in fundamentals.

I believe that this team will grow and learn tremendously this year, and we have an amazing recruiting class coming in.

We have two losses against two undefeated teams with established programs. We competed hard in both games, and had chances to win. I'm not happy that we lost, but I believe that these tough losses will only strengthen and develop our team.

We face a ranked and undefeated Stanford team that has a solid and strong coach and program, and we have upcoming games against a ranked and undefeated Utah team and USC team. We also face strong teams in Pitt and Navy. It's a tough schedule, but that is Notre Dame football. That's why you come here to play.

I believe in our coach.

I believe in our team.

I believe in our future return to glory!

This is a place to discuss Notre Dame football and right now everyone has a right to be upset. I don't think anyone has jumped ship right now on Kelly, but we still have to right to point out his mistakes.

The guy's great but not perfect... YET.

Ok, but all these judgemental comments and whimpering stuff isn't going to help get them their. It can't happen just like that, it's a process and damn people give BK a chance. Just like with any disorganization, addiction, failure, and sadness that can happen in everybodys daily life.........over time the wounds heal, things get better and the road to success is hard work. I'd like to see any of these posters or postettes that are so judgemental and so critical, to come into a program and start off any better than BK has.

With all due respect I don't think trulyblessed was referring directly to you. I'm sure it was more of a comment based on the many posts that have been on this site.... I know you want us to win as quick as possible, and we all have been patient for years, but bottom line is we have mad the choice to go with a new coaching staff and a new system, it just makes sense that it's going to take A LITTLE longer to get thugs where we allllll want them.
