At least we lost to the best. Saban and Bama got something really special down there. Don't really think too many teams would have been able to beat them tonight. I'm very proud to be an Irish fan, team went from unranked to 60 mins away from a national title. I still think about that dreaded '07 season and to think that five years later Notre Dame had a chance to win it all is amazing. Brian Kelly is a great coach and a solid recruiter(ND '13 class number one in the nation) if he can continue that and Golson gets even better the Irish will be back on this stage before we all know it.

Wow... I thought I'd get a "Right On!!"

Seriously guys, we needed to get hit in the mouth. We needed to see what the big boys do.

Next year, or the year after, everyone will remember this when we go back.

They'll say "blah blah blah" ND can't hang... "blah blah blah" ND is too small...

We'll know by then. It will be different.

I don't think one season can bridge the seemingly huge gap with these juggernauts. This is gonna take awhile, how long, dunno, but next year would yield similar results IMO.

How can they be that much different?

It's belief as much as size/speed.

They just knew they were Bama, and ain't no jerkoff Indiana team gonna deny them.

You have to give them credit... I do.

Soon, that will be us. (without the greyshirts and JUCOS and oversigniings of course..) :)

There is no blame game.

We lost on all levels on our first look at the SEC.

Next year we'll go undefeated again, probably lose by only 13.

Year after that? +5. We could very well win.

Next year people will blow us off when we get to the 'ship.

They won't give us a chance.

We're not gonna get back there next year, not after this game. Voters will remember the beat down, and I don't think we'll get through the schedule undefeated a second time with what we're losing.

This was kind of my worst fear. I really hoped we at least we could it close, but it wasn't close. Granted, we got jobbed by the zebras a bit in the beginning, but it was Bama's game without that. They're deep, they were dominate, and I'm not sure if or when we would be able to compete with this kind of team. I think the biggest surprise was how poorly we played on defense. I didn't expect we'd score more than 14-20, but this looked like a 2007 defense here. We didn't tackle well, we didn't get off blocks, we bit on the play action. That was the only disappointing thing to me, I thought the defense would keep it close at least.

In any event, I'm still Irish, love ya'll (no homo), love this university. It was a good season regardless, can't change that with this game.

blah blah blah.

As long as we get some punt coverage, convince Davonte not to freak out, and get Everet settled.

We win.

Great season guys.

See you soon

I love the spirit JJ! Alabama was nothing before Saban got there. I don't mean historically, I mean they were in a down period. He completely changed the culture there. They lost to UL-Monroe in his first season. I see similar paths for us as well. Lost to Tulsa and Navy. It may take us a little longer but we will win a NC under Kelly, I can feel it! Kelly is building this thing right! I can only see us getting better and with Kelly taking the time to be readily available for his players is what's going to put us over the top!

You forgot the part where our defense has to get off the bus. That was a cluster****. I think Bama only punted a couple times and had no turnovers if I recall, no field goals. Thats like a 180 from the regular season for us.

Sorry, I'm not really keeping up with the spirit of the thread. Give me 24-48 hours to be pissy about the game itself, but I'd never run out on this team or the university, nor it's fans. I'm genuinely happy how this season turned out granted the early predictions, just would have liked a better showing last night.

Is breá liom tú ró, JJ.

I think the staff and the fanbase was arrogant. The players got punched in the mouth.

Téigh Gaeilge!

The fact that no SEC team was rated ahead of ND in the final poll was gratifying!
