Here are the numbers as stated in the Observer.

Out of 14,000 applicants 3,523 (including both EA and RD) were accepted rendering a 25% acceptance rate.

This class is said to be the strongest academically in the school's history exceeding that of which the same was said only a few years ago. The average SAT score was 1400, average ACT was 32, average class rank was top 5%.

Yea, Notre Dame admissions has been increasingly competitive in the last few iterations. Here's something to chew over, I have a very bright buddy who applied to several top tier schools with the following results:

Notre Dame: Rejected
Princeton: Rejected
Yale: Waitlisted
Northwestern: Waitlisted
Duke: Accepted
Penn: Accepted
