Just curious....how do you guys plan on passing the time tomorrow until kickoff?

We're supposed to go to the Phillies-Braves game in Philly tomorrow but it's looking very likely that the 1PM game will be rained out (which sucks because it's a makeup game for the one in July that was rained out). All I know is that I'm bolting from Citizen's Bank Park by 5PM whether or not they've finished (or even started) the game so I can make the drive back home and be in my seat for kickoff.

Will definitely be checking out the Cal/Tenn game. Should be a good one. I also feel that Arkansas will come to play tomorrow against USC.

well, from 9AM - 11AM its gameday, then from 11am - 2:30pm i better set that aside for spending time with my wife and six month old son Ayden, then 2:30 I will hopefully watch NIU pull off one of the biggest upsets in history by beating OSU (yeah right), so I'll more than likely spend that time cursing out loud about how much I HATE OSU, then until 8 PM i will be pacing the floor like a nervous nellie. I'm pretty nervous about this game for some reason. I was pretty confident last week at this time, but the closer it gets, I am actually nervous for some reason.

Digging post holes to replace the front part of my fence. It will keep me busy for sure. Ugh.

Appreciate it bro. A tall Captain and Coke will be consumed in your honor as well.

Best of luck on the seven step drops. Don't forget to give her the hard counts.

With that menu, I think you'll be working on different drops. I wouldn't recommend being more than seven steps away.

All my friends have been asking me about this. I don't know what I'll do.

I just got my new DVD burner, which can burn dual layer DVDs, so I'll probably burn GameDay in the morning, then the actual game.

Also, I think my high school's soccer team has a game at around 1, so I might check that out. I don't want to spend the day watching other football games before our's because I want to be ''''fresh''''. So I'm probably only going to watch the 4th quarter of the O$U game, but only if it's close.

Educate me. Dual Layer DVDs???

Well, I havn't opened the box, but I think it's just a DVD that has double the capacity. It's not double-sided---though that would be cool---it just has two 'layers' that carry information.

So one DVD carries 4 hours. I can get a full game, with the commercials cut, and the Notre Dame-relevant portions of GameDay on it.

I've got a Media Center machine and never understood what the dual-layer meant.

What do you use to cut the commericals?

C'mon guys....get with the program.

Dual layer is exactly what it says...a recordable DVD with 2 layers, similar to what commercial producers have been using for years that enables them to put a couple hours of video (at a high bit rate), multiple audio tracks and "special features" on a single disc. Has a capacity of something a bit higher than 9GB. Single layer DVD is something around 4.5GB.

I don't have one, but would like to....not looked at how much media costs but it's most likely twice as much as single layer blanks. Also not sure how a home burned dual layer compares to a commercially produced disc with regard to the pause when your DVD player's laser changes focus from one layer to the next.

I've been TIVO'in the hell out of ND material for the past couple of weeks so I may end up burning all of that to DVD tomorrow if we decide not to ride out to Philly for the baseball game. That's gonna be a roll of the dice. If they call the game, we make out and will probably get a refund....but me and my Irish luck sez they're gonna fit this double-header in tomorrow if it kills them. The season is almost over, the Braves don't come to town again and the Phils need some wins to keep them in the wild card hunt. They basically have to get them in during this series. I suspect they'll get the makeup game (1PM) in as late as they have to and reschedule the night cap as an afternoon game on Sunday making it a doubleheader.

Won't be hard for me to pass the time...I have to work from 7-330 PM...going home...watching the GameDay show from GT that I've TIVO'd and that ought to bring up to watching a late game finish or two before ND destroys Tech.

I havn't set it up yet. I'm slightly worried that there will be cables missing.

What do you use to cut the commericals?

The remote, lol. Click the pause button and it stops recording---saves a ton of time. You never realize how much of football is devoted to commercials until you start cutting the commercials.

The one thing I like about Dual Layer DVDs is that it cuts down the amount of DVDs you have laying around and makes it more likely that you'll finalize every game (I lost a couple of games forever when my last DVDR broke-down).

I'm thinking about maybe buying some DVD software and making copies of Ohio State games. I could sell those pretty quickly around here. It might be illegal, but no one has to ever know ;)

I wish I had Tivo. Is it possible for Tivo to like, get a power surge and lose all the programs it had recorded? I could definitely see that happening to me after recording an entire season of ND football.
