I'm one of those people that really doesn't want Clausen to head to the NFL. But I'm pretty sure he is all but packed his bags at this point and don't blame him. With a lot of the things that I have heard and have been hearing pro scouts are raving over Clausen. The one thing about Jimmy he doesn't really possess like one standout trait but he is very adequate in every asset of the game. He has the arm strength, played in a pro style offense, has decent size. Definitely can make all the throws, he made a 15 yard dig throw today that impressed me. He has good pocket awareness, I think he is the most pro ready QB at this point. Now with US losing again I think its all but a foregone conclusion that he is going bye. So get ready for another mediocre season next year.

I don't think so, just because of the other quaterbacks going into the draft with him, i.e. Colt McCoy, Tebow... Not that Clausen isn't as good or better than the other quaterbacks, he could just build more stock in his draft debut next season and be the leading quarterback, possibly the No. 1 pick. That means more money if he waits til next year! That's just my opinion, plus, I think Clausen if a winner and has pride being a Notre Dame football player and will want to leave ND a winner! and hopefully a Champion!

McCoy will fall to the 3rd round by time the draft gets here, he is a non factor. I wouldn't waste a 5th or 6th round pick on that piece of garbage. TeBow are you kidding me as a Pro prospect. Wow. Clausen is gone...Potential suitors...

Rams, Browns, Redskins, Kansas City..

He has been compared to Aaron Rogers. The one scout I know has this as his top 4 pro prospects at the QB position.

1. Jimmy Clausen
2. Jake Locker
3. Ryan Mallett
4. Sam Bradford

Just a shame we wasted such a talent like him...Having shitty defense's and horrendous offensive lines. I mean I know Sam Young has started since day 1 but he sucks bad. I don't care what anyone says, he can't handle better players period. I know everyone loves Kyle McCarthy at Safety, I can't wait until these two are gone. I wish we would stop being really loyal to some of these players and play the best player available. Its sad we might not have anyone better than these two. Sam Young I can't wait until he is gone. I'm so sick of watching him get blown off the ball. He is not suited to play tackle. Might be a guard in the NFL.

Guard of the water cooler that is...

After what happened at Oklahoma this year Clausen would be foolish to stay, regardless of what happens to CW. He's one play away from losing millions.

If Weis stays, Clausen will stay. Otherwise, he's gone.

No. He's gone no matter what. He owes us nothing. He should go pro. If he comes back the only thing he is doing is risking his career. We aren't winning anything next year no matter who the coach is, so it is better for him just to leave.

I don't really buy that. I think he's gone one way or the other. Personally, I think he's been blessed with two standout receivers, being held back twice in his K-12 days and he holds onto the ball too long sometimes. Honestly, it's in the schools best interest for him to excel at the next level but I don't think he will.

His accuracy is awesome but he does hold the ball too long and while he does have good pocket presence he doesn't move that well within it many times. If Crist is the guy next year I think he can shed tacklers much better than JC a la big Ben and he can get out and run alot faster than Jimmy. This is an added dimension that can create alot of trouble for many defenses. JC leaving if CW goes is not worth keeping CW. Defenses win CFB NC and we haven't had a top D since Lou. CW recruits well on offense and at the skill positions but not at LB or OL/DL so far.

True...........I mean all he has done, in the last two years, is sign the concensus #1 defensive recruit in the country.........a LB. And, this year, he got a verbal from one of the top defensive recruits in the country.......a DL.

Te'o was a good signing, true. But he was one signing. He needed to be signing those players over the last four years....not just the last two.

Still, I say give him next year.

Bradford stayed. Taylor mays stayed. Brady Quinn Stayed. Tom Zibakowski stayed. Not saying it doesnt happen, but it is entirely up to Jimmy. If he goes, wish him the best. NFL rookie cap picked a shitty year to enforce it for ND fans.

Found an interesting article on Jimmys thoughts regarding the draft, which he still states "Truly i dont think about it, as odd as that might sound." It also talks about his brother Casey's draft day disaster, which motivates him.

Brother's fate in draft motivates Irish QB Clausen - College football- nbcsports.msnbc.com

I don't think JC is ready for the NFL. He needs another college season. The NFL would eat him alive.

I don't think this is true at all. I think he would step in, as long as he has a decent line and be fairly decent to start. I think he is smart enough to figure out an offense. Honestly think he is already ready. He might need to put on about 10 or so pounds though.

I still think he holds the ball too long and, though he has improved vastly, still locks onto wide receivers. He lobbed one down the field last night, without looking at anybody else, right into double coverage and it got picked off. He's certainly a great college QB but you have to wonder if he can translate at the next level.

Any team with a decent line is drafting so low - and any higher are building their line with picks.

He holds on to the ball because are receivers are double covered and no one gets open. Our offensive line has improved but they still SUCK. That was a bad throw but they were drilling him all day. He doesn't lock on to much. I see him make 2 and 3 reads a lot. Always finds his check down guys. I think he is great. I think he has the potential to be a really damn good football player. Not having Rudolph yesterday killed us by the way.

No one gives a crap about "your Bengals"...

Start a new topic in the appropriate forum if you'd like to talk about this.

did the checkdown to the back exist last night or did Charlie abandon that outlet b/c of the raucous road conditions?

Did you watch the 4th quarter? Clausen hit Armando Allen on those little checkdowns at least 3 or 4 times.

Miami drafted a Kick/Punt Returner, in the first round............ahead of Brady Quinn.
