Hate for UM

You know, I did not really care for Michigan either way. But I have learned to hate them with a passion these last few days. I have been on the internet more "blogging" then ever, and expected a realistic argument from UM fans, I mean, this is not Miami.

Here are some intelligent arguments from the most delusional fan base on the planet.

1. I brought up UCONNS stats against Michigans defense.
A. Why are you bringing up UCONNs stats, they don't matter.

2. Then he goes on to say that UCONN is the predicted to win the Big East, and how Michigan shredded their defense. (So the stats matter that UM put on UCONN?). I told him UCONN looked terrible, and did not play with their 2 best defensive ends. Michigan proved nothing to me.

3. He said we lost our whole offense, and we do not have enough athletes to beat Michigan. I reminded him that 7 days ago Michigan was predicted to win 6 games, and 2011 would have a new coach in Ann Arbor. Now Michigan thinks they are going to win the big ten.

4. I said 8-9 wins was expected, and he said I should lower my expectations, and UM is going to destroy ND based on nothing.

5. Purdue should have beat us, we were lucky.
6. We barely outgained them. (But we had the ball for like 12 less minutes)
7. They actually think their secondary will beable to contain Mike Floyd, Kyle Rudolph.

8. Also, they tried to tell me that "a good day rushing is a 200 yard day" and our 158 with 6 ypg is not impressive.

I HATE UM!

Why are you even talking to UM fans anyway? They're all idiots and obviously unashamed to be so biased. We'll just do the talking on the field Saturday

The only argument that matters is on the field. I (clearly) have been going crazy waiting for the game, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Hate to burst your bubble, but welcome to the Internet. Go on ANY school's website that is a rival and you will not be treated kindly by certain fans no matter what you do (but especially if you try to state your case about why you might be able to defeat or even hang with them). Just look at how some of us treat the couple of UM fans that come on here COMPLETELY IN PEACE. You don't think that makes them hate us even more?

I used to go on to USCPlaybook, and there was a good amount of fans there that had a healthy respect for me and even complimented me on being fair/realistic (I never 'trolled'...as much as I hate SC I respect the rules of their site). But many of those guys are THE biggest a-holes I've ever seen on the Internet, and unrealsitic as all hell. But I also have a couple SC friends, and they are NOTHING like the Internet SC fans.

(Having said that though...SC fans have been taken over by Raider fans, so they are the worst fanbase IMO. Go to a game and you want to take a shower by halftime, dealing with that filth.)

So in short, you shouldn't be shocked by your reception nor by the level of stupidity you saw on the fan board of a rival school. Welcome to the Internet, where 65 year-old fat men and 14 year-olds still sucking from the teet of their mommies have the stature of Mike Tyson in his prime behind their keyboards...

You need to understand that as college football fans, we are, more than any other fan following, more delusional in our teams and a bit unrealistic as a whole.

Although this site in particular has some very educated and passionate fans that are realistic. Ex: I could have sworn ND was back to dominance after the Hawaii bowl blowout. But 2009 proved to be a 6-6 campaign and Weis is now seen as a major underachiever who did not devlop players to their potential. Sam Young comes to mind.

Hahah well put, sir. I understand what you are saying, and tried to use logic to beat them. But they just through out the logic that favors ND, and fully embraced the twisted logic that supports Michigan.

I understand what you guys mean. I am just saying that basic fundamental football statistics get twisted and thrown out if it does not support Michigan.

For instance; I know, and will admit Denard Robinson will run, and rack up yards on us. But I think our LB's/interior will beable to contain him enough, and I believe that ND will be able to attack Michigan secondary with ease, and run the ball all the way to a balanced win.

They freak out. UM has shutdown corners, Denard is the next Vince Young..etc they forget a week ago 85% of the country predicted RR to be on his way out the door, and how its a a shame but the talent gap at Michigan is going to be hard to overcome. One win, and they think they should be top 10.

If ND wins this weekend, they probably will break the top 25. Should they? I am not sure. MSU will be tougher to beat then UM.

As an Ohio State fan and a lover of all things Notre Dame, I should be the first person to hate Michigan, yet I really can't. They do too much stuff too well for me to really hate them.

A played against Kevin Koger in high school, he's started TE since his freshmen year, so I have to cheer for him.

I went to Buckeye Boys State with Patrick Omameh, I was a City Councilman and he was our Police Chief. Extremely likely and generally awesome guy. He is now their starting guard, has been since his RS-Frosh year.

Jordan Kovacs went to Oregon Clay, outside Toledo, Ohio and I went to Oregon Cardinal Stritch. From what I hear, even he is a great guy. My girlfriend's best friend was his brother's girlfriend, if that makes sense, and so I'd always get the lowdown on how he was doing. He now starts at safety for them.

Plus their outstanding track throwers, the Pendleton sisters, are friends of mine and are great people too.

Believe it or not, athletes who get into Michigan get more respect from me than athletes at Ohio State, where I go to school. I love how Notre Dame, and Michigan (to a lesser extent) make their athletes go to school. I know it's a generalization, but the athletes here at Ohio State are treated like gods and just party and fuck every chick on the block and then get back to practice. Most are incorrigible toolbags who are communications majors and have others do their homework.

That said, I hope Notre Dame stomps those Wolverine fuckers into the ground on Saturday, but damn to I respect that institution.

I take exception to those remarks.

I remember before the 2007 season Michigan was coming off an impressive '06 season and was ranked I think 5th in the preseason polls. I was reading a lot of articles on Fox Sports (don't ask me why?) and the Michigan fans were constantly trolling other fan's articles and posting all this shit talking about how this was UM's year and they were going to smoke everybody... win the NC...blah..blah.

Anyway as we all know they lost to App State and it was like a ghost town on that site. People who had been posting 30-40 times a day disappeared. It was great.

I did not have the ill feelings toward this group until last years game. Actually respected them and pulled for them when they werent playing ND. That changed after the screw job last year and their apparent attitude. They are NOT Notre Dames biggest rival but I would like to see a resounding win that 'leaves no doubt'. I repeat if you are good enough to do it 'leave no doubt'.

Michigan has a history of being complete and total pansies in this rivalry, extending all the way back to the days of the "great" Fielding Yost, who was in reality a bigoted moron and a massive complainer.

In 1909, Notre Dame beat Michigan for the first time. After the game, Notre Dame star Red Miller went to shake Yost's hand. Yost told him he was a coward and that he was cheating, because Miller called fair catch twice late, causing Michigan to get penalties for kick-catching interference. The plays were perfectly legal.

Later on, Michigan was named Champions of the West, despite Notre Dame having a better record. Yost was quoted as saying his team wasn't trying against Notre Dame and that it was a "practice game".

Michigan then refused to schedule Notre Dame for another 32 years. There were several incidents in-between in which Yost either outright stated his hatred for Notre Dame or made some ridiculous claim. For example, in 1923, the Big Ten held a track meet. Notre Dame was invited. A Michigan hurdler lost the race. Yost complained that the hurdles were placed wrong, and demanded that another race occur.

We, of course, have our dark secrets. Frank Leahy was notorious for faking injuries to conserve time on the play clock (most notably to save the day against Iowa in 1953). But that's a story for a different day.

Then, in 1942, we finally scheduled Michigan. They beat us. The very next year, we smoked Michigan, 35-12, in Ann Arbor.

Michigan refused to schedule Notre Dame for another 35 years, starting the rivalry up again in 1978.

Bo Schembecler was noted for his hatred of Notre Dame. He said, "To hell with Notre Dame" before Weis said the same to Michigan in 2008. Aside from his incredible coaching achievements (no titles, worst record against top ten teams of any coach with over 100 wins), Bo was probably jealous of the fact that Notre Dame systematically kicked his ass every year.

In 1999, Lloyd "Coward the Third" Carr was outraged that Notre Dame would schedule a game before Michigan in a season because of some age old agreement made in antiquity, despite the fact Michigan played somebody before Notre Dame several times in earlier years. He was well noted for his belief that the Notre Dame-Michigan rivalry should end.

And now they're trying to get rid of us again. Morons.

Anyways, I despise Michigan. They have a great program (albeit incredibly overrated, IMO), but they're an incredibly arrogant and remarkably delusional fan base, almost on par with Miami or USC (even Notre Dame, admittedly).

You can find videos of Mike Hart running for ten yard gains in a preseason game on YouTube, and find comments from Michigan fans like "He's the best running back on the team! Why aren't they playing him?" or "They don't know anything about football! He's the best they have!". I am NOT making this up.

The majority of the fan base (which admittedly, happens at every school) knows absolutely nothing about their football team. They know the quarterback, maybe the running back if he's doing well, and whatever stars happen to pop up at the other skill positions. They don't know squat about the teams they play, so they end up making delusional homer statements like, "Notre Dame's going dooooown! They suck! They played Purdue!"

Nice analysis Shaqwasgod. If I remember right didn't Michigan's anti-Notre Dame bias come from anti-Catholic sentiment on the part of a coach or two?

Michigan wants a fight do they?

Michigan wants a fight do they?

Q: What's the difference between a University of Michigan fan and a carp?
A: One is a bottom-feeding, scum sucker, and the other is a fish.

Q: Where was O.J. hiding right before the famous white Bronco chase?
A: On the University of Michigan campus. That's the last place you would find a football player.

General Schwarzkopf was walking through the desert during the Gulf War when he found a lamp on the ground. He picked it up, rubbed, and out came a genie. The genie said to the General, "I will grant you one wish." The General replied, "I wish that we will win this war. Here is a map of the desert and all the war parties. Please make us win the war." The genie responded, "I'm not that powerful of a genie. I cannot grant you that wish." "Well," the General responds, "then can you have University of Michigan win a bowl game this year?" After a moment, the genie says, "Let me see that map again." \

Q: Do you know why the University of Michigan football team should change its name to the "Opossums"?
A: Because they play dead at home and get killed on the road.
