Green Jerseys for Army

I believe even before the season started, Brian Kelly said at a press conference that they were looking at the Army game to wear the green jerseys. So this news doesn't surprise me at all, and I believe it.

I thought the Utah game posed more significance to wear the green jerseys. Senior day, last real home game, big game against a ranked opponet. And to think how awesome would it have been to come out in the green jerseys and put a spankin' on them Utes like we did.

However, with the rivalry history and the game being played at New Yankee Stadium, I could see why BK would choose the Army game to pull out the Greens. I look forward to it.

It's a shame that we have sunk to this point where the greens are being celebrated against ARMY. ARMY??? I go with the fella who said "I don't care if we play shirts v skins as long as we become bowl eligible."

Sorry - I have faith in BK and the system and where we will be in a few years. But, I miss the 80's. The Music, The girls with BIG HAIR and Notre Dame ruling the football world.

my green jerseys memory goes all the way back to BC in '02. (I was ten at the time) and my mom who went to ND (class of '87) explained to me the tradition of those jerseys how they come out in them for really big games. I never saw those jerseys again until 2005 vs. USC. I remember my friend and I going CRAZY when they came out in them because we knew that it meant this game was bigger than we had anticipated and ND was feelin it.

Then the next year.... we pull them out vs. Army to celebrate a senior class, that really did nothing. (0 bowl wins and got torched by Jamarcus Russell in their last game). Then we pull them out again the next year vs. USC to celebrate an anniversary I believe.... this is getting ridiculous... The Utah game would have been acceptable, not this game IDC if its at Yankees Stadium. I LIVE 20 minutes from the Stadium and i dont even see relevance for wearing the green jerseys.... stick to the blue

They wore green '77 throwbacks in 2007 and lost to USC.

I think I have the same gut reaction as everyone else on here -- that losing in green makes it a lot worse.

But think about it: the jerseys can never be special again if we never play in them. A great new venue against a very beatable team in primetime Sat. night seems like a great way to get them back on track.

In my opinion most of the uniform changes BK has made have been a great change. Minus one, the helmet. I hate the dull gold. Bring back the metal flake. And hell to make the service academy games special put together some sort of green, gold, blue, white camo pants. Those would be sweet with green jerseys

I don't believe in the whole curse thing. I think Weis WAS the curse not the color of jerseys. If the players are glad to wear and want to GREAT! But if deep down they believe its cursed...than well were in deep barney.

@Newcomer Obviously in retrospect it'd have been a perfect game to wear them. But before the game, theres no way he would've done that. Especially when, odds are, they were going to lose.
If he had worn them, and they lost...everyone would have been irate. Don't think he would have taken that chance.
But now after a win like that, it'll feed that momentum and emotion. I think its a great idea.

If I'm not mistaken the greens are being worn here because the ND/Army game used to be played at the original Yankee Stadium. This is more of a throw back to honor the rivalry.
