As one of Jonas's biggest critics through three seasons and a game, it is time for me to recognize him for the special player and man that he has become. With all the criticism, it would have been easy for Jonas to ride out his scholarship, get his Notre Dame degree, and seek success in the business world.
But looking back over his four years, objective observers have to admit that there is no quit in Jonas Gray. He had many opportunities to give up and never did. His senior season showed the true character of the man. After many set-backs, including the first game fumble, Jonas was as determined as ever to show his true ability. His never-say-die attitude resulted in an excellent football season and a one-two running back duo like we haven't seen in a number of years.
Jonas, I'm sorry I ever doubted you. You have proven to be the kind of man that others can only strive to be. Best wishes for a speedy recovery from the knee injury and an opportunity for NFL success and for far greater success after a long and fruitful NFL career.
