I don't know if any of you heard "Mike and Mike" this morning, but they were discussing the ND issue, and Greenie read an email from one ya-hoo that said something along the lines of "....Notre Dame will NEVER again be a national powerhouse", and afterwards he turned to Golic to ask his opinion....and Golic said NOTHING to counter this guy's email!!! I mean, he went on and on about how the "landscape of college football" has changed so much, making it difficult to get great athletes to want to come to ND, and how Weis has done a good job recruiting (true) and that we should NEVER relax the academic standards for the football players (I agree), BUT, he NEVER went off on this emailer about this ridiculous assertion, which more or less gave the impression that he was agreeing with him by omission!! I was so disappointed In Golic. He should have gone off and stood up for our team - I know times are tough, but if you believe we will NEVER again be a national contender, then what's the point???

To say any time will never be relevant is just absurd. You have no idea what is going to happen 5, 10, 20, 30 years from now. There were people in the 90's who said USC would never be relevant. Saying something will "never" happen makes you sound like a jackass

I agree that he doesn't have to rebut every nay sayer in the world, but he didn't even show a speck of anger or annoyance. I mean, come on!!! There's a direct shot at our program, a program that he played for and that his sons' BOTH will be playing for by next season, and he turns the cheek. I don't know, I'm all about "walk softly, carry a big stick" but when you are called out like that, you have to respond. He is one of the few in the media who DOESN'T hate Notre Dame, and he needs to be an outspoken, public advocate for the program. I mean let's face it, you fine people are intelligent and stay on top of this stuff, but the average Joe really does not.

I know I shouldn't care what the critics say, but it bothers me to hear things like this.

I think everybody is tired of waiting and it has been really frustrating the last couple weeks. From the very beginning of this season it was a wait til next year if you wanted a NC or a great team. That's all I'm saying. You say you're tired of "waiting until next year" but after last year what else did you expect.

we are right on pace to be about what everyone would have considered the season we were going to have this year after last years disaster....not saying it is okay to lose four games, or any games, but the program is on the right track. we have had some good teams under charlie and will again very soon. many returners next year, and hopefully they win the next 3 and win a bowl game. that is reasonable at this point.

Not true we have beaten formidable opponents in the past and its the samething,more bs. We could win every single game every single year and trust me that would not stop the critics. We would have played a weak schedule or the other teams would have given us the games or we got lucky on a couple plays or had some controversial call go our way yada yada yada. Trust me people talk crap about us because they hate us, WIN or LOSE it makes no difference.
