'08 NJ OL Art Forst (Rutgers Verbal)

IUB, who do u think the next OL offers will go to? I know Pocic is probably pretty high on the list. Also, not sure if you read it or not, but Nick said that Pocic's deadline was actually Sunday, not Friday so by then we should know whether or not Forst will be seriously considering the Irish.

No last thing I saw on DD was Friday, Sunday makes a lot more sense, especially in light of the recent rumors. If Forst says no, I'm not sure if it will be anyone else but Pocic, at least initially. If Pocic is pushing the staff as hard as he appears to be, you would have to think that he has some very serious interest in ND, and if he were to commit shortly after an Offer, I doubt if anyone else will be offered certainly pending the decisions of Page & Patchan, and possibly not at all.

The available slots are really dwindling. If Newman, Blanton, and Forst or Pocic commit within the next few weeks, that means 15, with only 4 certain slots still available. ND might have to be satisfied with 4 OL in this class.

Even though Forst has said that his visit to Notre Dame over the Blue and Gold weekend just didn't click for him, Art had an excellent visit this weekend and came away very impressed with the Irish. Art was all but committed to Rutgers but after his visit, Notre Dame is right up there with Rutgers he admits. He will make a decision after taking official visits and hopefully wrap it up by the end of summer.

Forst's visit this last weekend couldn't have gone any better. Forst says he was ready to commit elsewhere (read:Rutgers) until he came in for the visit, but now wants to take his officials before making his decision. I think Pocic not getting offer has a bit to do with how the staff feels about their chances with Art.

I'm not sure what kind of shot we had to begin with. But Forst would probably wrap up OL recruiting if we get him. That is, unless they decide to hold a spot for Page. Who knows?

I would guess that if Patchan wanted to come we would take him regardless. I can't see passing on a top 10-20 in the country player.

Don't know because I can't read the whole thing, but the blurb may be a little misleading as if you look at the Irish Eyes home page, it talks about Forst making Official Visits in the fall. If that is the case, it's not as promising as the headline would make it sound.

But Forst also fully understands the opportunity that he has with offers from Florida and Notre Dame. He called a degree from Notre Dame “kind of like holding the master key,” which is a very mature and unique statement for a 17-year-old young man.

I can't say for sure but I think it both. I think ND showed him less attention and the fact that at Rutgers he's a major piece of there puzzle where at ND he's just another solid OT.

I don't think RU had much to do with it... he wasn't "Blown away" on his last visit to South Bend - said RU still lead after that race. So, when the staff hears a thing like that, they get turned off. And when a kid isn't quite blown away on a visit, he can easily get turned off. I think one leads to another, but who knows. One of the ND posters around these parts is saying Forst is down to BC and ND. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
