Golden Dome Hat

did anybody see the old man on TV wearing a golden dome hard hat looking thing during the stanford game? it looked like a hard hat, but it was the golden dome and all. i wish i could find a picture of it. anyway, i NEED one of these lol. does anybody know where i can get one? i looked on their store website and couldn't find it.

You can get them at the ND book store. I was at a game this year and saw them there. Look it up online if you are not going to make it to a game this year.

I couldn't find it on the site. I know I saw them right next to the old school leather helmets in the book store.

Judging by the two year hiatus of this thread, you definitely could have used some ingenuity and made an even cooler one by now! Couple that with some business savvy and you could have been the guy to stock the stores with them for other like minded individuals who want an epic dome to put on their noggin!

You want one without the ridge so you can glue a Magnetic Mary to the crown. I've met about a half dozen people over the years with similar headgear. All were selfmade. One guy drilled a hole and used a screw. The rest were glue jobs.

Golden Dome Hat

Those hats are not sold in the store. I have also made them, but out of baseball caps. However, I just made my first one out of a construction hardhat. You'd probably have to order a plain white hardhat online. In my city, there is an Aquinas bookstore that sells plastic unpainted Mary statues. I sprayed my hardhad with gold krylon paint and then sprayed the statue. Then glue the statue to the top of the hat w/superglue.

When I use a baseball cap, I got a plain white cap from Michael's and gold fabric paint. (Krylon didn't work well on fabric) Then, I painted the statue. You may have to use several coats of paint and mix a couple of different shades to get the color right.
