Just a citizen exercising his 2nd amendment rights. What could happen?

<--- Strong believer in freedom, 2nd ammendment, carry rights, and gun responsibility. This gentleman should be in cuffs. Anyone threatening to kill anyone should be in cuffs. This is ridiculous.

Thank you for your service to our country.

We also have 120 times as many people in the country as we did during the revolution so I don't think those statistics defend your POV.

Only about 8000 were listed as combat deaths...over 8 years at war. We report on the news the casualty counts of our current conflicts, but not of the almost 300 people per day shot here inside our country.

C'mon. Read them again. You're reading things that I'm not intending.

If yet conflicted, I hope you find your way soon. It took me a while to decide how I feel about this whole thing. Tonight, I've felt jubilation, anger, confusion and resolve, however, I feel that the judicial system has run its course and the people have spoken.

Yeah, I was joking. Of course this guy should be in cuffs. The fact that he can get his hands on that gun is also pretty screwed up.

Read a story about a 17-year old (I think) League of Legends Player (only relevant because I read this on a gaming site) that posted he 'Oh yeah, I'm real messed up in the head, I'm going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts.' after a friend of his called him insane. After that he put "jk".

They arrested him and threw him in jail. An anonymous donor just paid his 500k bond. He was there since March 27th.

Oh, and the obligatory "He was white" comment.

If that kid gets put in jail for that, this guy should be put in jail for this.

Edit: Slashdot write-up:

"Eighteen-year-old Justin Carter of Austin, Texas was arguing with a friend on Facebook about League of Legends back in February. After being called 'insane,' he responded with 'Oh yeah, I'm real messed up in the head, I'm going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts.' Below that, he wrote 'lol' and 'jk.' He was arrested March 27, 2013 and has been in jail since that time. A hearing to review his case is scheduled for July 1, 2013. His parents have launched a change.org petition to convince the authorities to release their son."

I've felt a lot of this as well. I'm sure I'll get to your place of enlightenment soon. ;)

There should be a way to report idiots like this. Others have tweeted threats from this and questioned. A gun is only a tool.

A tool to do what? Don't get the idea that I'm making excuses for the idiot in the picture. Clearly I'm not and think they should find him and throw him in jail. That said, I do think that it is a bit ironic that we all agree he should be thrown in jail for making the threat, but we just watched the verdict of a case of a guy who didn't threaten ... he actually killed a guy ... and he's going home to sleep in his own bed tonight. What a crazy country we live in.

One happened in the middle of a fight.
One would if he killed him be premeditated murder.
The prosecution screwed up they should have gone for involuntary manslaughter. That IMO would have been their best chance of a conviction and forced Zimmermans' legal team to use stand your ground.

Back to the Zimmerman Case:

The only thing that really upset me was (what I assumed to be racially motivated) misinformation that was being supplied full force during this whole affair. I believe the impetus for this was to camouflage the reality of this case.

This case, (and I said this from the outset) was about property, not self-defense or stand your ground.

It was about the haves versus the have-nots; so instead of actually being racism for most, (which never did quite fit, did it?) it was about "classism." Classism is the new 'ism'. As society redefines itself and the middle-class disappears, it will be the haves versus the have-nots. A perfect example; line up pictures of Corey Robinson, Greg Bryant, Nathan Starks, and Trayvon Martin. See? There is a clear line. It isn't about the tattoos, either. I included Nathan in this experiment because the jury is still out. Now it is a simple Sesame Street, which picture is different. If Starks crashes a la Mo Clarett, then the grouping will be divided in half. But that would only be because Starks went from BGHS to County lockup.

The second point of property is those who walk because they don't have cars, and gated communities. If you were forced to walk everywhere, or at least everywhere the bus didn't go, every day. You would use "cut-troughs" too. I can't speak to you, but if I were poor and a nice gated community, (to keep me and my neighborhood out) arose in the middle of my world, I would be resentful. Now we can argue back and forth for hours about antidotal evidence, but the aggregate of all peoples is most are good and kind of every class. However, it is fraud to say that most poor people are that 'way' because they are lazy, stupid, or inferior because of character defect.

The third and most powerful point of property in this case is that the gun lobby won. Forget about black and brown babies dying in the street. All of your babies live in a more dangerous America today! The gun lobby succeeded at something not even the auto industry was able to do. They have put guns in the hands of any imbecile, felon, or miscreant that wants them with no effective regulation. Think of it! I can walk into a room with you alone, and **** you off, knowing well that I walk into the room with a firearm, and then when you strike me (once or twice for show) blow your fvckin' head off, and expect to be acquitted for self-defense!

The scary thing about the above bolded statement is that it is absolutely true, (one of the few statements I have made without hyperbole on this site.)

Maybe realizing the stark reality of the results of this case will be the increase that moves the publics need for better gun regulation over the top. But if in isn't, certainly the additional deaths that will be caused by rubber-stamp self defense may.

My friend, you have very interesting selective outrage.

No he doesn't. My experience is that Redbar is spot-on!

I would recommend everybody give Redbar a rep or two.

Yeah. Twitter is where you really get the intelligent conversations.

If you made Twitter and facebook go away overnight, the suicide rate would climb for a while, but instantly you would have an addition to the national IQ.

And PS. The July 14th marches celebrate James of Scotland loosing his balls and running like nun from the field at Boyne, leaving the Catholics with nothing in their hands but their, pikes. Many died, including one of my direct ancestors, over this cowardice. But it did cement the Protestant control of Ireland for over another two centuries.

This isn't the most inflammatory move on the part of that user, over the Fourth of July there was a thread started that was shut down by the mods. It was about what racial group was the most racist. Garbage study - inflammatory topic.

And someone asked why I was so aggressive with this user. That is why.

Point is, like I and so many others has been saying... There was no case here. It was all show.

Any person with half a brain could look at this and say there was PLENTY of reasonable doubt.

And Trayvon Martin is not a kid. He's only a "kid" for convinence in this case. If Trayvon had looted a house that night and shot the home owner, his stoned, tatted up *** would be tried as an adult. So stop with the "kid with skittles" crap. It's simply not true.

Now Al Sharpton is working with the family and the US attorney general to look at civil rights charges...

Unbelievable. Waste of tax dollars.

Explain where civil rights were violated

A kind of white guy killed a black teenager. Clearly, it had to have been racially motivated.

duh?

Do you mean

Zimmerman vs. NBC for defamation,
Zimmerman vs. Florida for withholding evidence, or
Martin vs. Zimmerman for wrongful death?

All 3 of those are going to happen.

I am pretty sure this was sarcasm, but I saw on another site someone posted that GZ is half white with the other half being mostly Hispanic with a little bit of black too...and he is reffed to as white and white Hispanic.

The guy then pointed out that Obama is half white and half black but referred to as black.

He was upset at the trial but more against the prosecution then the finding. He was asking the others about racism and what this distinction says about us as Americans in general

That comparison is very interesting between Zimmerman and Obama.

The narrative sounds best when the funny named black guy overcomes adversity and becomes President.

The narrative that sells the best is when the creepy white guy stalks and kills the innocent (cue the old picture) innocent black kid.

This is not a civil rights trial.

Let's just pretend that two black 17 year olds were in the scuff and one shot the other.

Replace George Zimmerman with this guy:

Shawn-Tyson_mugshot.jpg

That's a 17 year old black teenage murderer in Florida.
Shawn Tyson, 17, gets life for killing Brits - CBS News

Now if we want to dismiss the bias and the media ratings, we can use a more recent photo of Trayvon.

trayvo3.jpg
130523170103-01-trayvon-0523-story-top.jpg

Now.....

Take the exact same story. Say Tyson was worried about vehicular robberies and went out side to look at a suspicious individual. The confrontation occurs. One gets his head bashed in and then one ends up dead....

Does the national media show up?

Does Al Sharpton hold a rally?

Does this look any different from a Chicago Saturday night?

Do we have people who dismiss the facts and demand a guilty sentence?

The only racist element in this case are the people who refuse to accept the reality that the evidence wasn't there and that this "boy" may not have been so innocent. The only prejudice in this case is from the people who can't get past the fact that GZ had a legal gun in his possession. The Civil Rights trial would be a huge waste of money and our time. It has no merit.

Is it not possible for a person to think a stoned teenager walking through the neighborhood at night in the rain of a different race is possibly a bit suspicious looking?

Fr. Bill Dailey from the law school was just on MSNBC about the case. Probably be a video of it up at some point if anyone's interested.

A great point made by some slick haired lawyer named Bob Massi on Fox:

If it wasn't political, it sure looks that way. The prosecution. Didn't even want it, it was crammed into the courts, and even when it goes to the courts...and he's found not guilty in those courts....the DOJ is STILL getting involved and its STILL not enough.

A distorted perspective, yes. You could go on, and on, and on. But at the end of it all that would still only be a very small percentage of 17 year olds. Profiling by their age is no different than by sex, race, or anything else. The only thing all 17 year olds have in common is just that, they are the same age. Age is simply a number.
