Ive noticed that this year that the players on the sidelines from almost every team ive seen, have tubes that go into jerseys to the Shoulder pads. Am I missing something or is this new? Im guessing that they are blowing air into them to pump the pads up and/or to cool down the players from the heat.

Thats what Im guessing. Maybe the new Shoulder pads have air pockets in them to be blown up for the cushion of hits. Thus making the pads weigh lighter.

Someone out there is going to know the answer to this question but I'm going to put my two cents and a guess in there as well....but I think its some type of cooling mechanism that pumps either air or water into the pads to cool off....but who knows, I'd like to know the answer though!

Yeah, it's a cooling thing, but it's not really NEW. The Cowboys were the first team to ever use them as a former Cowboy player invented em. They can either be used for cooling or warming, actually. Cool air is blown if it's hot out, and warm air for cold weather. The bad s have these veins with holes all through them that llow the air to flow through.
