Hate to be the bearer of bad news but Michael Floyd is lijkely out for the year. He had surgery sunday morning and might be able to make it back for the bowl game.

They were saying that Troy Palamalous doctors were taking his blood and then filtering out the platelets and plasma, putting the blood back in and then directly injected the injury with platelets and plasma. I wonder if that would help Floyd.

fucking sad...

You are right, it is sad. It is terrible for Notre Dame, but also for Michael in general. He is a world class talent who should be playing on Sunday's for a very long time. I hope he can come back from this and not skip a beat, for his sake.

It was about this time last year that Michael Floyd became kown to us. He almost acheived a legendary status (despite missing the last three games). Hey, Shaq - the doors open! The opportunity is there - someone has to get those reps. Preseason has been abuzz - I can only pray.

Man I said it before.. This guy is going to be one of those cats who just has some bad luck. Although passes into nowhere land, making WRs dive for balls is probably not helping.
This is seriously bad news for this offense.

Are you kidding me? We can't leave his 3 TDs/game off the field. That puts ND into instant loss territory for a bunch of their upcoming games.

Sorry to say that's only for ligaments. Platelet rich plasma won't do anything for bones.

Michael Floyd was not going to have 3 td every game. I agree we can not replace his production but our offense is so much more than him right now. All we really need is for one of the other recievers to step up and become a solid #2. This injury hurts but it is not something that will end the season.

He was on pace for that. And sorry, you don't have too many kids on one team, if even one, with the caliber of Floyd. So unless something changes, I don't see anyone filling that void any time soon.

This is the same injury that Ron Powlus had twice....(I think).....

Powlus broke his clavicle in practice the week before the '93 opener. He broke his humerous being sacked by a Midshipman.

JefMaj is right he was never the same receiver after the clavicle injury.

not that it makes much difference, but he's eligible for a medical redshirt. I don't see Floyd needing a 5th year to bring up his draft stock. He'll be back for the bowl game.

Wa just going to ask that question. He was great to watch and flat out dominant. Next to JC he was the most important hard to replace part on the team.

OK, then my grievous error. Call it 2, if you want to be a complete dick about it. I was also factoring in long plays where he didn't score.
Regardless ND is now a team where 14points of the roughly 35 points per game you average are gone.

So ND will average 21 ppg for the rest of the Floydless season?

ya hes a complete dick for not factoring in long plays as touchdowns. i mean i know every time i see a receiver make a catch of 30 yards or longer, i make a mental note that he scored a touchdown.

we can score a few different ways, tate, rudolph, allen, and parris all have touchdowns. not to mention before floyd was the freshman sensation, kamara was. one receiver wont make up the production but wr by committee can make up a lot of it.

besides we have a QB that could go start on an nfl squad if he had to tomorrow.

they say character shows through adversity and this team has already shown plenty it will be tough but i think they will respond.

Long plays setup touchdowns.

Long plays setup touchdowns.

well rudolph had a 52 yd reception yesterday on the first possession that led to allen's td run. they didnt both get td's....

tate had a 54 yd catch on our first possession in the 3rd quarter that led to parris' td....tate didnt get credit for the td catch

Scratches my head

i am missing something

So because floyd is out we have just one homerun threat instead of two. as a result we will average 21 points a game because there is no way that anyone else on our recieveing core can make a contribution?

no thats pretty much it... :jerkit:

This is football!! injuries happen. when one goes down, it is time for someone to step it up!! Samardzija was an unknown before mcknight was lost for the year. Parris, Walker, Goodman, Evans, Kamara. someone is going to step up and seize the moment!

We have a very good O-line and a QB who is turning into a star. This offense is going to click and continue to produce. I think we are going to see more put on Armando and Jonas. These guys can take a lot of pressure off of Jimmy and the recievers by continuing to run hard and protecting the football.

you jinxed 'em...I tried, but no amount of voodoo could save him...

Damn this sucks, you are right ...that is production you can't replace...the other part is, defenses will have a hell of a lot easier time scheming for us...they can pretty much play straight up now...means more shots on Jimmy...and now he can't really elude anyone with his injury...not good

...so far, what I've seen this season, we need to win track meets, because we can't stop much of anyone or anything on D...somebody better talk to the D, they need to be tougher, and then talk to the O-line...they gotta get it done more consistantly (fewer drive killing penalties) for us to win...
