If you think you stink. The ND defenses seemed to "think" too much. Several of these boys have seen the triple option in H.S. and should understand the plan to stop it. To defend the triple option requires good tackling and discipline. The defensive staff does not make tackles, the players do. You can't always blame the coaches.

This was not about missed tackles, this WAS about a bad D scheme.

Tenuta is not our problem...I also thought that our offense looked flat, the only time there was a spark from our offense is when we had to comeback. Tenuta is only in year #2 and Weis is in year #5, I think it's time that we look into our head coach.

I have to disagree with you. And I clarify my position again: I think Charlie Weis is not, IS NOT, doing a good job and that's why I post the feelings I post. Conversely, I see an offensive genius in Charlie Weis and I see a man who is in his first stint as the CEO of a football program. The learning curve, contrary to popular belief, isn't two years....especially not at Notre Dame. Most of these highly vaunted up-and-comers cut their teeth at smaller schools and often suffer through mediocre seasons before figuring it out. The difference between these coaches and Charlie Weis is that they don't have high expectations to meet, so as they suffer through three or four 5 win seasons--before winning 8 or 9 games for a few years and then moving up--the fans/alumi are indifferent.

Also, Jon Tenuta is not in year two as a defensive co-ordinator. He's been doing this for a long time.

I agree completely but even i, who has backed Weis throughout, cant wrap my head around this loss. I love everything about what he has done, but at some point he has to produce CONSISTANTLY.

I have a feeling he will be fired and 5 years from now will be winning at another place while we are still trying to find the next "great" coach

Well I'm lined up in the same camp as you. When was the last time Notre Dame hired a real name coach that made people around the country stop and say "wow, that's ND"? Well, I know Davie and Willingham weren't awe inspiring hires to me...they were more like "we asked the ten hottest girls in school to the prom and were summarily rejected and gave up hope on asking 11-30.....so I asked a decent looking girl instead".

Admittedly I felt the same about Charlie Weis except I believed, and still do, that he could be the nerdy, "what the fuck is the hot guy going after her" girl from the movies who ditches her glasses and leaves everyone saying "why the fuck wasn't I looking at that girl" girl.

And so I hope that Notre Dame gives him next season with some very stringent benchmarks to meet.

I hope to god and everything Holy that CW gets one more season. I hope that he realizes that Tenuta MUST go and gives Corwin the job. Our fans have slpit ove CW this season, and it's losses and I feel that a simple correction on ouD could make the biggest difference, Tenuta has been trying to pound a square peg into a round hole. We need a coach like Corwin to asses our D and field the best defensife front that our talent allows. I'm so tired of everything getting blamed on CW, I'm not saying that he bears no responsability in this, but Mr. Tenunta is certainly the one to blame for our defensive short comingings.

Why not make it a 3 for 1 package deal. In the state the economy is in getting 3 for the price of one makes good economical sense.

Its funny that people have all this patience with Weis but are ready to kick Tenuta's ass to the curb after a very short stint. Didnt Weis only win 3 games without Tenuta running the defense? Where were all these people then? You cant continually give Weis a pass and time if you're not willing to do the same for Tenuta. Its called hypocritical for those that care. Fire 'em both or keep 'em both.

our defense didnt lose those games our d was good before tenuta well better than they are now

And what planet are you from? Where has CW gotten any kind of pass? This Coaching cotraversey is killing our program, wake up we loose on defense every week, our O puts up Heisman winning numbers and we still loose stupid games, why?........HELLO our D! Why don't you watch some games and join us.

I was really excited when we got Jon Tenuta because for the past three regimes, his Georgia Tech defenses made us look silly. Now I'm starting to think it didn't have as much to do with Tenuta as it did with our team being crappy when we played GT the past several years.

it's not possible for out defense to be a solid unit when there are two coordinaters on the staff. tenuta scheming one way and brown is scheming another way. it's obvious with all the confusion out there.

the experiment with two coords is a huge failure.

What would Charlie say?

What would Charlie say?

IF Charlie weren't the coach what we he think about the program right now? I think he would say the same thing he did when he came in here with the "New Sheriff in town" attitude. HE would not have the patience for what is going on. Charlie seems like a guy who would say "Rseults not Excuses". 6-4, then 7-4, then 7-5 is not good enough. Charlie would have canned himself afgter last year if he were Swarbrick. I like CW but this team is too predictable and we're wasting talent. I don't see all of our recruits hanging in there whether CW stays or not.

Ditto that, at least CB has some fire in the belly and wants to go down swinging. HAving JT and CB proves the old adage that 2 wrongs don't make a right.

tenuta's contract runs out after this season. he won't be fired, he just won't be resigned.
