exactly, we should never join a conference, never. I respect college football and us being an independent is what college football is all about.

Big 10 sucks this year? ND wouldn't be 10-1 if they played in the Big 10 lad. Good to independent? Umm yes. C'mon......

how do you know that, we would have played a cake walk non-conference like they all pretty much do and would have played Michigan later in yr. Completely different circumstance. This is a rediculous hypothetical though.

All this tells me is maybe the media should have waited to coronate Troy Smith and the Ohio State Buckeyes, who were cemented at #1 all year (in the polls and in the Heisman ballots) when they won at Texas.

Because frankly, Texas sucks. They got killed by OSU at home, got beat by a meh KSU team and a meh A&M team- as well as having games they should have lost against Nebraska and Texas Tech. Texas is not even a top 25 team this year, IMO. Nor was Iowa. Michigan? Probably a top 10 quality team, but who'd they play? Wisconsin. Ok and who did Wisconsin play? Michigan's only other big win is against us, and we still have no idea if we're legit or not.

Are there any actual good teams this year? It's kind of pathetic. OSU is not some great team. In any other year, they're not a championship squad. Hell, last year's OSU team would wipe the floor with this one.

Yes, ND would be 10-1. In case you're not familar with Conference scheduling members do not play all conference teams in a season. The Big Ten only plays 8 conference games. WIS didn't play OSU this season.

ND played 4 Big 10 members including #2, #4, #5, and #10.

And Latte has a point, as a BIG 10 member ND wouldn't be facing USC, GT, UCLA, et al. The conference might ask ND to drop NAVY as too competitive and a threat to the Conference Revenue Sharing Program.
  1. OSU not on the schedule
  2. UM LOSS (whipping)
  3. WIS not on the schedule
  4. PU WIN not on the schedule
  5. PSU WIN (whipping_
  6. MIN not on the schedule
  7. IU not on the schedule
  8. IOWA not on the schedule
  9. NW not on the schedule
  10. MSU WIN
  11. ILL not on the schedule

And without a front end loaded schedule ND might have played UM with Young more experienced and the OLine more stable. Carlson would not have been helping out Young as much as did the RG. A perhaps more importantly Samardzija would be focused on reading defenses instead of still focused on a slider. Quinn and Samardzija were not in synch early in the season.

Wisconsin opened with BG, Div 1AA W. IL, and SDS

Wisconsin opened with BG, Div 1AA W. IL, and SDS

before facing UM they then had 5 weeks before PSU. ND had GT, PSU and UM back to back.

You can't argue with Big 10 fans. Logic doesn't factor into their equation. They are in denial that the only 2 elite teams are tOSU & UM. Whisky is good, but not elite. The rest of the conference is a laughing stock that OSU, UM and UW should be ashamed of.

ILL 74.56 (18)
PSU 74.47 (19)

For all the heat the East has taken over scheduling compare their top 3 with WIS.

LOU 72.81 (29)
WVU 70.98 (42)
RU 69.38 (58)
WIS 67.49 (75)

WIS played a schedule 6 to 10 points easier than almost the entire Big 10.

Ummm...Iowa played BOTH UM and OSU.

No team avoided playing both UM and OSU. UM did not play Illinois and Purdue. OSU did not play Wisc and Minnesota.

Exactly...

Wisconsin OOC schedule is pathetic, it isn't not even close to the Big East. Here's what chap's me about the B10. How can you have a conference where each team doesn't play one another or doesn't have a conference championship game. I know the rules but until they do one or the other, it's a garbage conference. It happens nearly every other year where one of the top 3 teams don't play one another. Just like the BCS its garbage. It really irks me that a team doesn't win their conference under these circumstances and is still no. 2 in the BCS. I would rather USC just go and that takes a lot for me to say.

What really irks most people is that 3 teams from a conference that shouldn't be in the BCS are in the top 14.

Big East? I actually thought you got off their ass, but I was apparently wrong. They deserve it just as much as any of the conference does as evidenced by last years win in the Sugar Bowl. I will leave it at that and say I think more people are irked by our guaranteed birth in the BCS than the Big East gauranteed birth.

So because one year, they produce one team that upsets an SEC team (who looking at this year, wasn't that good anyway), that justifies their conference getting an automatic bid?
